Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Really don’t get the over dramatisation of the defence.

4th best in the league last year and we haven’t lost any of them.

We have instead, bolstered the midfield which was needed and should help and drastically improved the attack which means we can be on the front foot more and reduce the pressure on the defence.

Myko played the ball into grealish for betos goal on Sat. He isn’t as awful as people make out. (Sure someone will now try and diminish it saying it was just a hopeful ball in).
It’s the last day for doom mongering, let them have their fun.

Everton keep trying for RB. They looked at both Geertruida (potentially off to Sunderland) and Maehle (can play both FB positions) over the past 48 hours. Both were quoted at £20m+ for loan plus options and we only wanted to commit about half of that. Ultimately it has been this valuation gap that has seen us draw a blank. We’ve potentially been unrealistic in our valuations but 🤷🏻‍♂️

Right Back?

Right Back?

We don't need no stinking Right Back!

Everybody has a bad game sometimes. JOB had many good games last season as RB. I can also see Garner covering as RB as he has done before. Every position doesn’t necessarily needs a “specialist”.

I hate to bring RS as example but Szoboszlai filled in very well as a RB last night.
It's fine as a stop gap. Half a season is not a stop gap. And if JOB gets injured his replacement is another stop gap. It's bizarre if we don't get a RB as it's been an obvious and glaring gap in our side for years.

The wage bill should be down this year anyway.

If Patterson stays (as surely he must), that’s a squad of 23 (including 3 keepers). That’s just about the bare minimum and definitely fewer than last season.

To be honest I suspect the full back situation is one Moyes is reasonably happy with if everyone's fit. We have 2 decent (albeit not great) options and a 3rd less decent one for both positions:
LB: Mykolenko / Branthwaite / Aznou
RB: O'Brien / Garner / Coleman
O'Brien and Aznou are a potentially ood pairing imo if Aznou gets up to scratch. O'Brien drop back a bit to make something of a 3 while we're in possession while Aznou pushes right up. Allows to make the most of both players strengths.
