Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

You're saying in the entirety of world football playing 2 players out of position is a better option than literally any other option there? That we couldn't find a single RB that could have been better than those 2?
Nope that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that both of those players can do a job if we can’t find long term right back who we feel is going to be quality.

Honestly, I’m getting proper shocked at the level of reading comprehension.

We could have easily have found *any* right back. But a right back who would have had a meaningful impact on the team and *any* right back is not the same thing.

I think we are waiting for the right player and are comfortable with what we have there in the meantime. You know, given we had the 4th best defence already last season and now have a better squad.

O'Brien was probably always planned as the starting right back. Outside of Tete at the start we've really not looked for one at all, and all the links seemed to be central defenders. Bit of noise when Patterson was set to go but get the impression it wasn't really an area we were ever properly looking at.

Good window and the squad is miles better when fully fit, but as we seen already in just a few games, we're really down to barebones at the back, with arguably questions around every "first choice" too, either with their fitness or quality. Not ideal, but I think it's been better than we expected, with the exception of a RB.
Really don’t get the over dramatisation of the defence.

4th best in the league last year and we haven’t lost any of them.

We have instead, bolstered the midfield which was needed and drastically improved the attack which means we can be on the front foot more and reduce the pressure on the defence.

Myko played the ball into grealish for betos goal on Sat. He isn’t as awful as people make out. (Sure someone will now try and diminish it saying it was just a hopeful ball in).

We've needed a RB for at least the last 3 years. I'm curious who they are waiting to become available during those years.

But how can it not be? Honest question. O'Brien looked very uncomfortable against Wolves on Saturday. Wolves.
Everybody has a bad game sometimes. JOB had many good games last season as RB. I can also see Garner covering as RB as he has done before. Every position doesn’t necessarily needs a “specialist”.

I hate to bring RS as example but Szoboszlai filled in very well as a RB last night.

It's not going to end up being a 10/10 window then as I think we are still light in a couple of areas, but maybe it was always unlikely that our finances would stretch to sorting every problem out this summer properly.
Do you mean TFG finance...they dont want to spend big, that is clear...they are here for the return on investment...

To be honest I suspect the full back situation is one Moyes is reasonably happy with if everyone's fit. We have 2 decent (albeit not great) options and a 3rd less decent one for both positions:
LB: Mykolenko / Branthwaite / Aznou
RB: O'Brien / Garner / Coleman

….was in the pub when he was shouting at the telly and delighted when a horse fell at the last leaving his to win. I actually told him that’s not what a proper racing fan does, nobody wants to see horses falling.

He is one of those noisy types that shouts at the telly.

What a pillock.
