Hi,
Hoping someone can help. I've a VW Transporter t6.1. I can't get the triple rear seat to reset in it's brackets.

I had tried to get it out - got it folded down, tipped forward but one of the feet wouldn't release. Tried a bit of force and a plastic 'thingy' popped off.

Now, trying to tilt it back into position, the rear 'feet' won't engage. There's a metal bit that won't move. I've attached a pic.

Sorry for posting it on here but it's literally the only forum I belong to 🤷PXL_20250901_121445999.webp

I`ve got a T5.1 mate, go onto the various Transporter forums, you`ll 100% find the answer there mate.

Mine`s the legendary pain in the ass weird and wonderful cog driven engine and I`ve been able to find out how to fix even the most obscure things via the forums.

Failing that DM me, as the lad who looks after my T5 is a wizard with all things VW and I`ll put you onto him.

Best off trying specialist vw forums, someone there will definitely know and help.

Thanks for the replies, folks. Was just asking on the off chance that it was something really simple. I'm crap with this stuff so was hoping it was an easy fix.

I'll get someone to look at it. Cheers 👍

Mate I apologise for my reply, it was far from hhelpful. I do however feel your pain, I’ve recently sold my van after 2 years of throwing thousands of pounds at it….. proper money pit

Ah, that would mean signing up and it takes all my strength to do this forum 😁
There isn't a specific "bracket reset" function for VW Transporter T6.1 triple rear seat brackets; instead, if you're having trouble with the seats, the issue is likely with the mechanism itself, and you may need to check for bent parts or ensure the release cables are properly seated. To ensure proper operation, align the seat's feet into the floor pockets, lower the seat firmly to engage the green tabs, and verify that the seat's backrest release cables are correctly attached

If push comes to shove, it’s still drivable though, isn’t it, mate?

That’s the rear seat, not the front.
If it’s really becoming a bother, maybe it for now?

The steel seat brackets on my old car snapped in half this one time…
When I sent it in, my mechanic ended up having to weld them back together again. 😳

1. Position the seat:
Place the VW Transporter T6.1 Kombi seat in its correct position on the vehicle floor.
2. Align the feet:
Line up the two feet of the seat with the corresponding pockets or receivers on the floor bracket.
3. Secure the front feet:
Allow the seat to slam down, which will help it engage the front locking mechanism.
4. Check for confirmation:
Look for two small, often green, tabs to come out from the sides of the seat legs. These tabs indicate that the seat is locked securely in the bracket.
5. Check rear feet:
For the back of the seat, you may need to push down slightly or the seat may naturally engage with the bracket's rear locking points, indicated by similar green tabs.
6. Test the seat:
To ensure it's fully locked, you can pull up on the backrest to raise it into its upright position.
Note: If you're installing a new system, the process might involve fitting quick release brackets to the floor first, and then installing the seats into these brackets.
