Why no strong links.

It was clear after dibling signing that we were done...we do not know the meaning of urgency with this recruitment team. Takes 2 to 3 weeks per signing....it seems that most of the summer we have been after the same group of players, some we manage to get, some we didn't. They probably think we will be OK with the current squad...let's hope we dont get any serious injuries.

Deadline days used to be a lot of fun.. the optimist in me says we're going to enjoy tomorrow. A permanent signing of a right-back and a centre mid on loan will do me just fine. If we don't do anymore business it will definitely seem like a missed opportunity.

I expect he'll be moved on with time but we cannot be selling squad depth at this moment when we still have gaps in starting positions.

I doubt he will go but if we do bring in a centre midfielder there could be a possibility his game time is going to be very limited

2 strikers. And 2 experienced centre midfielders, maybe 3 with KDH at a push and 6 players for the wide and 10 roles. Not sure you’ve thought this through

In my view is why you sign a rb if he leaves who is more attacking so could cover as rw, similar to what we have on aznou who can cover lb and lm

With Patterson staying I doubt a right back is coming now

What a blanket statement.

McNeil is currently 3rd choice at left midfield and is useless anywhere else on the field.

IF (extremely unlikely so this is all moot anyway) a decent offer came in, you'd be absolutely mad not to sell.

2 years left on contract, his value will never be higher than it currently is.

Anyway, there will be no interest as he's not a player that would start regularly at almost any other side in the league. Certainly no interest at a value of £25m or so.

Don't get me wrong, the guy himself seems sound and he can put in a good corner and lash in 1-2 great goals each season, but his-round game is pretty poor, especially compared to what else we've got in the squad now.

If he stays, sound, he'll get a good number of games this season and I'm sure he won't let us down, just that side of the field will be about 300% less effective as the bar has now been raised.

4th choice LW mate. Grealish, Ndiaye, Alcaraz all ahead of him

Of course...we have done well to replace them. It feels though that we perhaps again ending with a squad not balanced and whilst we have decent options behind the striker/wing now, we are short at rb especially as we did not replace young. As long as we dont have serious injuries to our key players, we can have a decent season. However not addressing the rb situation that would be very poor from the recruitment team.
