Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

No, bringing in a right back we can afford (and surely to god there is one) without depleting an already paper thin squad, makes more sense. Certainly to me.
Thinking tactically if we cash in on McNeil then it’s gonna substantially reduce the amount of efc donuts we’re all gonna have to get through for the Grealish fund

Never suggested you did make that claim. But I'd hope if we did sign a young player from the Championship that's what we'd be looking for.(Dibling) For me Hamer is a decent midfielder playing in a poor side. He has Prem experience that may have made him a decent acquisition as a squad filler for not a lot of money, but as we are possibly looking for a DM that's not going to happen.
I've said several times, we're not buying Hackney 🤷‍♂️ He's an 8 anyway.

He's not on Dibling's level of reputation but he has improved year on year into a 20m worthy (half as much as Dibling) young England U21 player. There's no guarantee any young championship player will make it in the Prem.

I'm not sure why Hamer is entering the discussion though. He's certainly not what we need.

I don't think we will sell McNeill as this stage, but if we got an offer in excess of £20m then it might be something we have to consider. He's a 20m player in the current market so we shouldn't accept any less.

He can play anywhere across Midfield and at WB. He takes set peices and quote clearly offers managers no problems.
Yeh, definitely can exist there for sure, but he’s a poor player in open play in too many cases, especially considering we have Ndiaye or Grealish for the same spot. I know what will be said - “but the goals”, and yeah, some blammos as well, but that masks his mistakes quite a bit for a team that had nothing going for it. Similar to how Doucoure was idolised bizarrely - scored a lot of goals, important ones, but was also the reason we needed important last kick of the season goals by being absolute rubbish. Misses like he’s made this year will he ever more glaring due to the fact we have players who won’t make the same mistakes now

Lovely fella though for sure, no doubt about that, and will do his best, though currently he’s not looking like he’s doing that imo

E: that said, we need a squad and he fills the squad. Brainless to get him out right now

One of the most naive things I’ve ever read on here.

He’s fine as a rotation/squad player. We are threadbare squad wise as it is.
We’re threadbare in centre midfield and up front is McNeil going to fill in there is he??
He’s on his way the manager doesn’t fancy him, get used to it. And if we use the money to
Improve the stating 11 then or the having a better 1st sub. Then surely it makes sense.

Half the time he stands still anywhere across the midfield and I wouldn’t say his set pieces area a massive strength looking at him in the cup game which you would expect him to try and stand out he looked well off the pace
