In danger of getting carried away?

If we can get enough points on the board early it means we can go full throttle at both cup competitions.
The attacking options we have means we aren't an injury away from having no threat, but it would be massive if we could get even 2 of the 3 - RB, DM and striker in before tomorrow evening.
Our new guys aren't frightened of the ball which makes some difference.
Enjoy the wins while we get them, as has been said there'll be tougher days ahead

No, you are being a realist.

We are loving these last two league results and especially the way Grealish has hit the ground running.

Dewsbury Hall looks a good signing, Jimmy G is blossoming, Beto is scoring and Skilliman is doing what he does best.

And we have Dibling and Barry to look forward to. Plus the return of Branthwaite.

So there is lots to be positive about.

But that defence worries me big time.

Those two goals yesterday were real Keystone Cops qualty (teenagers, ask you great grandad).

Brighton could have easily scored four last week and should have scored two when you look at Welbeck’s miss and the penalty.

So yes…I am very happy right now and for the first time in several years I am not glad there is an international break to relieve my EFC inflicted misery 😕

But I am not getting carried away.

(not yet, anyway 😎)
This the same defence that was 4th best in the league last season?

Don’t forget that we haven’t played our starting back 4 yet and in the first two games we had garner at left back.

The defence will be fine. It’s been make do the last few games. We still need a right back but im genuinely not worried defensively.

Spot on this assessment. If we can somehow bring in a decent right back, and get Branthwaite back on the pitch, I think the defense will be more solid and give the team a real balance. Mykolenko is a weak link, but with Garner showing he's more than capable there, and the young lad to bring in, I'm less concerned. My long lost footy mojo is slowly returning.

I’m normally the same as the OP on this, however after the last 5 years supporting Everton I no longer but into the saying “it’s the hope that kills you”.
What’s killed me over the last few years Is the kids asking if we are going to be alright and not being able to give them a confident answer,
what’s killed me was our fanbase rallying to keep the club alive only to be thrown under the bus by kenwright and co a few months later.
What killed me was seeing grown men with tears in their eyes at half time in that palace game.
What killed me was having points taken off us for breaking rules that don’t seem to apply to anyone else.

So the way I see it now if this is the start of something great then enjoy every minute, we deserve it. If it’s just a flash in the pan enjoy it even more. Suck the marrow out of every bit of it.
It’s about time we started feeling good about this club of ours.

Apologies for rambling on a bit and also “ things that killed me”were just a turn of phrase in not claiming to be a cat.

A little bit yes.

We have been starved of so much that it doesn't take a lot to make people happy, including me.

3 League wins on the bounce and it's dancing in the streets, 4 and it's statue time. I'm being deliberately outlandish there, but it does feel like it at times.

I really enjoyed our passing and attacking play yesterday, probably for the first time in over a decade.

The game itself was a microcosm of where we are at this time. Lots of promise, with persistent problems remaining unattended to.

I'd really like us to get a couple in tomorrow. It's important. A right back and CDM will bring us into contention for a European spot in my opinion and that would have been unthinkable even weeks ago.

Lots of good things have been done not just in recent weeks but over the last few months. But we must always demand more. The game has changed so much and we were either comatose or deeply misguided in response, for over three decades. I want us to be in a hurry. We have so much to do.

There's a lot to be pleased about at the moment. The stadium, the new signings making a difference, some very nice football being played, and wins, glorious wins.

It's something I feel many of us has craved for some time - to feel good about Everton and thst we're on the up. Its lovely, genuinely great to have a feel good vibe.

But, and there's always a but, are we in danger of collectively getting carried away? We've been starved of the above for so long it's only right to indulge, but should we temper the enthusiasm slightly? Its still early days this season and there'll be bumps in the road.

We need to keep the positivity, but fall into the trap of setting ourselves up for a fall, with heads falling off over a setback imho.

Or am I just being a killjoy miserable so and so?
The reign of Davek looms large over GrandOldTeam.com

So are you saying we are not going to win the league and Fa cup double this season and then complete an unprecedented quadruple next season... You are such a negative Nancy.

…..for me, it was the manner of yesterday’s win that offered most encouragement. We just looked far superior to Wolves and the scoreline didn’t reflect that.

Better quality than PL opponents, offering genuine threat in top third (5 in the opposition box early in 2nd half) and scoring 3 away from home.
Just so much variety movement in the final third and you are right scoreline did reflect the overall game

The defence that hit those previous records in the league has Branthwaite in it. The one with Keane is not 4th best and is prone to conceding goals. This is just a fact that a lot of people don’t seem to like but it’s true. We need Branthwaite back and fit for the majority of the season if we want to have a good run or we’ll be looking at having to score multiple goals every game to keep winning.

We need to get Branthwaite back, get Barry firing, and also start to get goals from set pieces, and have a clean run of injuries, then who knows what we could do.
