Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

People outside Everton do t realise how good Arteta was before his cruciate injury in 2009. He came back from that at about half the speed he used to have and was still good enough to walk into Arsenal’s midfield and captain them to trophies.

Arteta pre injury was absolutely unbelievable. That period he has when he was hitting those long range free kicks straight in, he was almost a one man team, just get the ball to him and he’d win the match for you.

Still remember a prime Villa team under Martin O Neil coming to Goodison for a cup game and we had Gosling and Anichebe on the wings, Cahill upfront, and Rodwell Neville holding mid. They had Barry Milner Young Petrov Downing etc. and were in really good form. We played Arteta at 10 though and he just dominated the entire game and we battered them 3-1 with half our first team missing and no strikers. He was absolutely unplayable.
I've always thought (based on no evidence whatsoever ) that the Steve Sidwell challnge on Arteta in that game, when the ball was going out for a throw in and he slid into the back of Arteta causing him to slide off the pitch on his knees, may have been what led to the cruciate injury a week or so later.

Mick how do you think we should deal with the gloom merchants who spent all summer predicting ruin and trying to agitate other blues into being as miserable as them?

Should they be allowed to continue to post as though it didn’t happen?

….they’ve certainly been quieter since we started winning games. There is an anti-Moyes faction that were suggesting there was no strategy to the acquisitions when I actually think we’ve been very strategic. Not much of that type of criticism this last week.

Hopefully a busy 24 hours and a couple more new faces.

….interesting that our two big money signings were on the bench yesterday, neither seem automatic selections in the short-term. I suppose that’s good, especially with us winning games.
Got no issue with them being 20 and 19 years old. Had they been mid 20's I'd have been greatly concerned by our transfer policy at 75 million spent.

Two more would be good, three more brilliant.

With Barry it's going to take time to introduce him to the league I expect.

Dibling has barely had time to train with us.

Competition for places is deffo a good thing - and in attacking areas pretty rare for us !
