The West Ham way is the embodiment of the ridiculous football hipster idea that if you get a quirky manager with a ‘philosophy’ and buy a specific players for his ‘system’ then you can bypass the causal link between player quality and football success.

Moyes comes in and pragamatically takes them to the limits of their squad and instead of backing him with more investment to push on they just believe that if they find the unicorn manager then that will forgo the need to actually buy any top players.

Tried it with Pelligrini, again with Lopetegui, now again with Potter. All failed/will fail, yet the fans will still always look for this silver bullet.

We had a similar thing ourself at the end of Moyes’s first time but after seeing the evidence for ourselves of the limits of managerial philosophies when Martinez Silva Ancelotti Lampard couldn’t get past the reality barrier of player quality it feels a though the fan base is much more pragmatic now with most appreciating what Dyche did in the circumstances he had, and now appreciating what Moyes is doing.

Who knows if West Ham fans will ever get there.
Post of the month.

I'm still interested to see how much Moyes can cast off his own shackles before he retires - this is his chance.

Our football just before Alex Ferguson poached him was very good imo (and Ferguson's I guess).

We were top of the league at one point under ancelotti, we’d just beat palace away from home and then spirit of the blues made it into the music charts

Dominic-Calvert Lewin believes "exciting times" lie ahead for Everton”

I guess he was kind of right…

That last chance for Wolves, so close. So lucky
That football! We were equally lucky we didn’t concede before our first goal against Brighton! But I can point to a number of games last year, for example villa at home where we should have won the game only to lose to 0 - 1 to a later winner for Villa. We all could point to shoulda, woulda, coulda moments but it didn’t happen so enjoy the win!! UTFT!!

That was a really good away performance from an attacking perspective. We looked incredibly dangerous and could easily have scored 5 or 6 with a better final pass. Some of the football and passing was absolutely top draw at times. Apart from the vulnerability in defence which I think can be sorted by Branthwaite, I think we have the ball away far too much. Once we got the ball in the final third we looked fantastic but there were long spells when Wolves dominated possession because we either kept launching hopeful long balls, we didn’t retain the ball from throw ins, or our clearances were completely aimless. A lot of the Wolves pressure could have been avoided if our defenders would head it to an area where our players have a better than even chance of retaining the ball. Instead they just seemed to clear it to the opposition. We need our defenders to be better on the ball to justify how good our creative players are.
