2025/26 David Moyes

I’m not a David Moyes groupie by any means, but I adore this:

“He is even better than I thought,” he said of Grealish. “But it is all about Jack, not me. He probably needs a bit of love and attention. He needs the games as well. Footballers need games.. He’s got something to prove, I’m sure, I think we all have in life.”
Take all of that and make it the opposite and that’s what you get from Pep Guardiola. Because Pep flat out said he hates any attention taken from him. It’s great to win, sure. But it’s great to be a part of working together to make something great that hasn’t been for some time and to be appreciated.

I think if we got recruitment over the line earlier then we would be looking at 9 points in the first 9 games. To think that it's only a wrong penalty call that's stopped us from looking at 7 points from 9 before the international break is excellent considering our form in August over the past few seasons. Credit to the manager, the players, and to some extent the recruitment team (for getting the likes of Grealish in). Very happy.

Now just get a few more over the line before the end of the window and we can really kick on for a top half finish this season.

I was actually kinda annoyed by this. Alcaraz would not be my first pick to defend a lead 😅

He was short of defenders on the bench but was surprised he didn’t bring on Coleman & switch to a back 5 although I am glad he didn’t. If Branthwaite had been fit & Keane on the bench it may have been different.

He should have taken of Ndiaye earlier, he was done after 70 minutes.

He just knows how to get the best out of players. Might not be immediately but over time he gets to know them and unlocks their best. We saw it with OBrien and Beto last season. He’s doing it with Garner and Ndiaye now. He knows he doesn’t need to tell Grealish what to do and he just needs a bit of confidence. He probably knows he can’t just so the same with Dibling Aznou and Barry.

He’s got his foibles like every manager but there’s no doubt he’s a very good manager. This is the opportunity here with finance finally behind him to go and show it at Everton and bring a trophy home.

Things turn around quickly in football.
He did it in Jan and hopefully again now after Leeds.
Maybe get 1 or 2 more in by Mon.
There'll be totally different feeling around the place.
Nice way to go into 2 week break.

I generally agree with most of what you say , and this post is bang on the money mate.

The club is in safe hands with him, thought that as soon as he walked through the door. The last manager dragged us down to his level and had loads of people in our fan base believing that being better than 3 other teams was something to strive for.

Moyes is a manager that offers genuine real stability and solidity, bumming around the bottom 5 every season is not stability. Just like in his first spell, he will raise the bar of expectation and everyone will probably be fuming that we haven’t got European football at the end of the season. That would be a testament to the job he’s done to turn the club around after picking it up in the gutter.
