That isn’t his only other option though, is it mate?

“I’m closer to saying ‘no’ than ‘yes’,” and later something like “hopefully what we’ve got is enough” are pretty strong suggestions we’re not getting anyone else in. There’s a world of possibly responses between that, and confidently declaring we’ll sign X number of players.

I’m just surprised, because he acknowledges we’re very short defensively. I get it if we haven’t got loads of money left to spend, but we’ve got lots of loan slots free, if there are no bargains to be had. I know Grealish and KDH will be on decent wages but surely not as much combined as we got off the wage bill this summer with all the departures.

Hopefully he misspoke and we can manage a couple on Monday.

He’s back fit now

I wouldn’t want us prioritising Ake at this point though, clearly a very good footballer but his injury record is horrendous and, to me, seems a risk financially

It’s made even more insufferable by people who just continuously post that we’ll end up going for whichever is the worst player who has a tenuous link to us.

No doubt there’ll be the usual shouts for Jack Harrison

Now there’s the Soucek situation which no doubt people will be making up ridiculous scenarios of us paying huge fees or massive wages that might not ever happen.

The window is bad enough without all these types of posts which just offer nothing. So far we haven’t gone for any of those types of players mentioned instead bringing in Grealish Dibling KDH Barry Alcaraz Aznou a lot of attacking talent.

I think deadline day bans should be issued, stop the wums in their tracks on deadline day
