2025/26 Vitalii Mykolenko

We know what we get with Myko. When he’s not fully fit he’s absolutely terrible, as he has been last two games.

But when he does get fit he’s a very very good left back. Moyes knows this hence why he’s playing him back into fitness. Just a shame he always takes a few games to get back to full speed where other players can get it straight away.

Stays fit over the international break and he’ll be back pocketing Salah like it’s a walk in the park.
'A very, very good left back'.
You must be able to see something I can't.

Match rusty and thus not fully fit.

Also, because we're spending more time going forwards there's more gaps in front of him to have to read and defend in/against.

No Branthwaite who has more speed to help him out and has a more solid left foot and understanding longer term.

We aren't as compact, so better sides will exploit that space between defence and midfield. Something to watch. Also a parallel issue with the who's doing what question in CM.

When he’s fully fit he hardly makes any mistakes and can pocket the top wingers in the league one on one. That’s why every single Everton manager he’s had plays him every game. Yes he’s not Leighton Baines going forward but he can still contribute as well but that’s outweighed by the solidity he gives you at the back. Great attitude and commitment as well. You build strong squads with players like Mykolenko.

This side is going to be begging for him to get involved going forward. Our attacking players are going to create so much space and it needs to be taken advantage of.

Fair enough.
I've got Mendes in the 'very, very good' category, not Myko.
But like the lad and think Moyes/Baines will improve his game.

Seconded. Bad error for their second but he's comfortably good enough for where we are at the moment.

I don’t say this to criticise mykolenko but it does make me laugh when people act like if you miss 3 days of training you have to be classed as ‘coming back from injury’ for the next 6 months.

Vitalii Mykolenko didn't exactly cover himself in glory today concerning their goals, but he did okay overall in the game. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
