Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We had Onyango and Campbell on the bench on Wednesday. If hes letting Patterson, Chermiti and Harrison go out on loan, then we need 3 absolute minimum.

We still haven't addressed the lack of pace in the squad, no one who can transition us at speed and we have a severe lack of energy and bite in midfield when Gueye isnt there.

PLUS A BLOODY RIGHT BACK!!!
WE WONT SIGN A RIGHT BACK

The so-called lack of pace is 95% due to formation and tactics. No transfer in the world can fix that.

Come Jan there’ll be plenty of players at players not happy with game time, particularly given World Cup year, or clubs looking to change things up.

We’ve got players who can cover multiple positions. I’d rather wait for the right players than just get anyone in

Strange one.

First to admit that I haven't seen him play for Lyon, but there are reasons why he play there. As far as I remember he was pretty poor for a relegated Southampton team last he played in England. Never much interest for him even as a free agent two years ago. Why he ended up in France.

But now he is much better than than those who played when Everton were one of the best defenses in Europe last season? What's in the water down in Lyon? Shame O'Brien didn't drink more of it....

O'Brien as a right back has been much better than anything Maitland-Niles have shown in Premier League. Arguably even Garner has been better.

O'Brien does his job there, but still see him more as a CB.

Niles definitely isn't the guy I want as a first choice right back, probably more of a Fabian Delph or if he comes good here Phil Neville due to the ability of playing many positions. I guess in our situation it's not too bad to have solid utility options than can be used almost anywhere, based on that we looked pretty empty on defenders against Leeds and Brighton on the bench. And we need one guy for DM and RB at best.

I can't see the number 1 solution for RB coming with the time remaining. As sad as it is tho. 10m for me looks decent for a squad player.

Think most people had RB as our #1 or #2 priority at the end of last season/heading into the window, so it's insane that we've only properly tried for ONE

RB was one of the only positions we weren't short on options like CAM, RW or LB for example.

But it's sad that it looks like another year we don't sign the good first choice option.

Its a few things tbh, most of our players average around 31 km/h which is not exactly the quickest tbh. However I don't think S&C/fitness at the club is up to much and I have long thought more could be done to improve that dept. Ultimately we have slow players but yes a change in mentality and game instructions could see us move things about a bit quicker, like I said its a few things.

O'brien has done so well there. Maybe Moyes prefers a giant at the back post rather than a lightweight RB.

Look at Frimpong and Kerkez at Liverpool, technically brilliant but they look pony when it comes to defending.

Soucek at around 10-12m is fine, he would add a few goals and be a physical presence which we lack. However 15-20m is too much imo. I think he would surprise a few on here if he does sign. Him, paqueta & Bowen played a huge role in West Hams relative success under moyes. Soucek in isolation doesn't seem great, but with our other signings he would be fine. NEED A RB THOUGH!!!
