Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Not sure how that’s relevant to Soucek for £20m.

How many 30 year olds do the top clubs pay that kind of money for even though they have money to burn.

As horrible as they are Liverpool should be the template. Steal young kids 15/16 for pennies and spend your big money on players 23 and under. If they are what you expect great. If they flop you sell them on as you have probably got them on reasonable wages.
But they literally signed 30 years old midfielder for nearly 20m 2 years ago.

Wataru Endo.

Maitland-Niles still doesn't sound too bad for me for around 10m, still isn't the big RB we need, but much better than what we currently have and also give cover for the Gana role, we still need to add depth.
Strange one.

First to admit that I haven't seen him play for Lyon, but there are reasons why he play there. As far as I remember he was pretty poor for a relegated Southampton team last he played in England. Never much interest for him even as a free agent two years ago. Why he ended up in France.

But now he is much better than than those who played when Everton were one of the best defenses in Europe last season? What's in the water down in Lyon? Shame O'Brien didn't drink more of it....

O'Brien as a right back has been much better than anything Maitland-Niles have shown in Premier League. Arguably even Garner has been better.

Always thought Soucek is more of CB than a midfielder.
Certainly his main attributes are better suited to an old style CB, even his ability to score occasionally. I think if we played Keane in the position Soucek would occupy you’d get similar results.
In fact I think Keane would be slightly better because he can occasionally find a decent pass out.

We had Onyango and Campbell on the bench on Wednesday. If hes letting Patterson, Chermiti and Harrison go out on loan, then we need 3 absolute minimum.

We still haven't addressed the lack of pace in the squad, no one who can transition us at speed and we have a severe lack of energy and bite in midfield when Gueye isnt there.

PLUS A BLOODY RIGHT BACK!!!

Moyes continued: Whether we get anything over the line before Monday night, I couldn’t be sure of that. If we can do it great, if we can’t, we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

I’ve heard that before
Anyone can bolden words that completely misses out context:

Moyes continued: Whether we get anything over the line before Monday night, I couldn’t be sure of that. If we can do it great, if we can’t, we’ll go with what we’ve got.

Last Jan we took the stance not to get additional players in as we weren’t desperate and the right ones weren’t available. If Moyes and the board think better opportunities will come up in Jan than at this late stage, then I’ll accept that, given the work that has been done.
