Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Or, simply a market opportunity? An opportunity to get a player in on a free early doors when we needed a significant number of incomings. Doesn’t necessarily mean they saw right back as a priority when they went for him.
Correct. We needed another defender in to start the season. That was either Tete on a free or when that broke down it was re-signing Keane

I trust Moyes over all you lot tbf
As somebody said yesterday you can trust someone, doesn’t mean they are making the right decision

Soucek (if true) is a short sighted move that may be a marginal upgrade if we’re being kind. A manager who isn’t likely to be here in 2/3 years won’t be worried about that time

It’s why you need a Director of Football looking at the bigger picture. Big wages and no value at end of the contract is not something we should be entertaining given where we are as a club. It’s like we’re not learning lessons

We just signed 19 years old.

Think we'll deffo get a couple more in. Whether they're permanent transfers I'm not convinced.

We've loads of loans to play with so it'D be irresponsible not to use some of them.

I also think we all need to exercise a bit of caution. We are not going to get the perfect squad in one window

So some of the players that come in might not be the glamorous ones were expecting, they could well be bodies to cover things like right back and DM. Key thing to remember is they're loans not permanent and we can maybe get more permanent additions in January or next summer

I think we should be in for a couple, Paddy Boyland might have been more than cryptic when he said we might end up with 10 transfers from the current 8.

I wouldn't see us getting anymore than two in now. It depends on Moyes' attitude on loans, if any full deals fall through and to what extent he is willing to sacrifice anyone he might want for someone who can fill in for a season if required.

We are almost certainly going to fall short in at least one position, but if we got two in, however we managed it, then I think it will have made for a very solid summer.

For me we must get RB and CM, if we were in the market for another forward then it's hardly going to be more than another punt, for what we could spend. I do like Ivanovic though. It depends on what they want to do with the available budget and what they can do by Monday.

Not sure how that’s relevant to Soucek for £20m.

How many 30 year olds do the top clubs pay that kind of money for even though they have money to burn.

As horrible as they are Liverpool should be the template. Steal young kids 15/16 for pennies and spend your big money on players 23 and under. If they are what you expect great. If they flop you sell them on as you have probably got them on reasonable wages.
