Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He doesn't hate the youth but he's very hesitant to hand them a start unless he's absolutely certain on them.

How long did we wait for Coleman to get a start at right back when Heitinga, Hibbert, and Neville where the other options?
Coleman is probably the worst example you could use, Moyes handling of him made him probably our greatest PL era RB!!!!!

But there was also Baines sitting it out for Lescott.

I think Moyes likes people he can trust, so young players are gonna need to wait till he trusts them.

We have signed mainly toddlers this Summer, theres no way somebody who hates youth would allow such a thing.

IMO

I think people expect every signing to be a talented U23 player, we’ve already signed a few of those this summer in Aznou, Barry and Dibling. I imagine there’ll be an aligned vision to add a bit more experience as well. I don’t love the prospect of signing Soucek myself but I can definitely see why they fancy him.
You don’t need a group of 19 year olds but to bring on an excruciatingly slow 30 year old on the decline that would currently be out 6th highest earner makes no sense and is the exact problem we ran into last time we had money to spend.

I feel pretty much the same, I won't be overjoyed but I won't be underwhelmed either.
I can see the need for experience. I quite liked him playing for the Hammers.
Exactly, he can cover the 6, 8 and 10 positions and pops up with a few goals over the course of a season. I think it’d be remiss of the club to have Armstrong and Iroegbunam as our backup CMs, would be very risky tbh.

Most Everton manager's seems to be allowed to sign one of their boys as a gift

Martinez with his Wigan lads, Fat Ron really wanted Gylfi, Silva with Richy (reach cus Brands wanted him too), Fat Rafael with Rondon, Lampard with Dele and now apparently Moyes with Soucek

All absolutely roaring successes tbf
One of their boys comparison doesn't really add up here: Yes Rondon played at 2 or 3 clubs for FSW. Gylfi was just a period we were overspending driven by Mosh

No I know, it's not the exact same situation. Just feels like that was his pick, despite us already having brought in the other 10s

Hopefully it’s a smokescreen
We can hope. But these lads are sound lads (despite their West Ham connections) and they aren't the type to wind me up either and they know I'd be pretty p@#£@£ off if we signed him. They are adamant that we are pushing hard.

They said West Ham aren't keen to lose him, even with the new signings, but the rumours they're hearing is that the player is keen to come (not to the extent whereby he'd kick up a fuss) and we seem like we'd go quite high in our bidding, so they think it's going to happen. £20m (or thereabouts) is the rumour 🤢🤬
