Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

He’s a bit too young for ol Moysie. Dibling will also find that out in due course. How many times did Moyes mention Harrison Armstrong’s age in the post match presser the other night? It was a few. “Armstrong did well FOR HIS AGE”. What has his age got to do with it? If you’re good, you’re good, you shouldn’t have reservations about players due to their birth certificate!

Farming Armstrong out on loan and signing a 30 year old plodder instead is dour Davie in a nutshell.

Saw enough from.Moyes version one to realise he will not play younger players if he has options or they are that good he can't avoid doing so. Usually he has circumstances force his hand.

But can look back at his trusting in youth.

Coleman, farmed out till about 22-23 on loans before eventually bring him enough minutes on the wing.
Baines sat on the bench for over a year behind a centre back converted to makeshift left back in lescott.- until Lescott has the worst game of his career v Dahlmat.
Barley - loaned out several times including the developmental loan to Sheffield united under Warnock who played him as a singer and a sub...
Rooney - the best generational talent of the last 40 years, built like a brick shihouse, who Moyes treated like he was just a young kid managing his minutes. When he was clearly ready to play every week - as he did right after moving from us.

Probs lots of others but those four stand out.

What was Barley singing at Sheffield United mate ?

It seems to me that Soucek has split the forum about buying him, I must admit I don't want him, we have wanted a right back for years and if things stay the same we still have not bought one, in my opinion a r/b should have been top of the list. I think Soucek is a Moyes favourite and will not improve the team one iota, I also believe if we do sign him it will be a moderate transfer window for me, just my opinion before anybody gets on my back. Just one more thing who is going to score more than ten goals. defiantly need a goal scoring striker.

You can be as defiant as you want too, it's been a very good window.

I think @bluestevon makes some good points. If we look at next summer for example in an ideal world we'd want our younger players (especially) to have been outstanding this season.

I suppose 'ideally' we'd want to have a skeleton something like this next summer;

GK: Pickford, Travers, Tyrer
LB: Anzou / Mykolenko
LCB: Branthwaite
RCB: O'Brien / Tarkowski
RB:
CM: KDH / Iroegbunam
CM: Armstrong / Garner
LW: Ndiaye
ACM: Alcaraz / McNeil
RW: Dibling
CF: Barry / Beto / Chermiti

In an ideal world, Anzou, O'Brien, Iroegbunam, Armstrong, Alcaraz, Dibling and Barry all go up a level.

We'd certainly have some team then and surely only bring in a couple of top quality players with a few of those names above sold off to increase our warchest.

Would any of us see a position for Soucek there?

Surely we're all looking at RB and a winger that can play both sides?

If we "go with what weve got" this season then perhaps a European place gets us a top RB and the quality of an e.g Fofana level player.

We have to be progressive and use funds wisely.

Devils advocate here…

Baines and Coleman went on to have very long careers at the top level both remaining with us for the duration and both his good fitness records until Coleman suffered a horror leg break with Ireland

Rooney went on to be England and Manchester United’s record goalscorer having a top career by anyone’s level and rarely missing a game even though he didn’t look after himdelf

Barkley got played every second he was available after Moyes left and he’s had loads of injuries and had a really disappointing career for the talent he was blessed with

…maybe Moyes knows what he’s doing not overplaying kids?

The lack of a right back signing has to be deliberate although it doesn’t appear logical.
I can only assume Moyes is happy with Coleman and O’Brien with Garner providing additional cover.

We’ve missed out on a few potential targets, even today Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Juventus for RB Nicolo Savona.
They are paying €15m for the 22 year old.

One again I hope we properly utilize the loan market and if we can't permanently sign players for certain glaring gaps in positions we need loans as injuries will no doubt affect us this season and we're incomplete without having certain players profiles
