Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Has there ever been a player we wanted that suddenly became available in January?

If we don’t sign a competent, premier league standard right back, then that’s a big fail. Shouldn’t be that Herculean a task.

Oh I don’t think it’ll work like that. But sounds like we’re maybe keeping some pocket money for January.

Oh I think Alcaraz is screwed big time if this happens, get the feeling Moyes never really fancied him - the two year contract is frankly strange.
He's not screwed at all. Its a squad game, especially with 5 subs.

We have needed a proper fully functioning squad for decades now. We finally look like we are actually getting one.

He’s a bit too young for ol Moysie. Dibling will also find that out in due course. How many times did Moyes mention Harrison Armstrong’s age in the post match presser the other night? It was a few. “Armstrong did well FOR HIS AGE”. What has his age got to do with it? If you’re good, you’re good, you shouldn’t have reservations about players due to their birth certificate!

Farming Armstrong out on loan and signing a 30 year old plodder instead is dour Davie in a nutshell.

15m is nothing these days. Especially now we have everybody being stripped of every penny they have at the new ground.

It's not like he is an awful player or anything. Not like he is bombing around the pitch every week either so I don't think the age cliff is to much of a concern.

Would prefer a full back though obviously.

It's simply for me the fact that he is the complete opposite of how we should be recruiting. Choosing a system, a profile of player, using analytics to get the best bang for the buck. Not recruiting with short term in mind and not bringing in very specific types of player for specific managers.

We need pace.
We need a solid holding midfielder.
We need energy.
We need to recruit with minimal sunk cost deals.
We need to maintain a wage structure.
We need to improve the ability in the side to actually keep hold of the ball and stop the cycle of 40-45% possession we have been in since Carlo.

Soucek brings none of this and is the opposite in most.

What does he brings. A big aerial presence.

Seen compassion being made with Fellaini. No fellaini could actually play a bit as well and had a great engine and was pretty decent pace wise.
