Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Right back would let JOB play centre back while Branthwaite injured, im sure keanes errors are on their way šŸ˜†
Nothing he has shown playing for Everton suggests that Jake O'Brien is a better option as a centre back than Keane. He has looked just as raw as Barry does and I doubt he'd be a starting centre back for any team in the league.

We need to stop thinking he would do well as centre back because he does better as a full back than we expected.

When it comes to pure defending as full backs, Mykolenko is a lot better than O'Brian. That doesn't make Mykolenko a good centre back option.

I would extend the top 3 and buy Jack if there is an option to buy in his loan contract.

I’m not Mykolenko’s biggest fan but he will have suitors, especially from abroad, and he could sign a precontract with a foreign club come January, so action definitely is needed.

I think we need to keep Garner as well, as he’d have no shortage of suitors either.

The following players have contracts running out at the end of this season in summer 2026:

Mykolenko
Garner
Tarkowski
Keane
Gueye
Coleman
Grealish

Clubs sometimes like to leave a loan option available for January, which is understandable because you can get hit with unexpected injuries or whatever between now and January.
I imagine we would be working on extending the first three contracts. Does highlight the urgency to replace Gana and get a RB again.

Disagree with this massively.

Think he’s adapted to the league very well once he was finally given game time, despite being played out of position.

The majority of centre backs do not want to be out wide defending one on one against tricky wingers, but on the whole he’s done a good job of it, the fact we concede less than a goal a game with him on the pitch is evidence of that.

When he has came into the team as a centre back he has done well too. 2 clean sheets in the last 2 games he played there last season, including away at Newcastle. And I thought the partnership between him and Branthwaite looked good in the one time they played together at centre back away at Chelsea.

People won’t like this but it’s 100% correct. People are assuming O’Brien will be better than Keane just because he’s not Keane. In reality he could be a lot worse and hasn’t looked great there whenever he has played there for us but that’s obviously based on a very small sample size. Keane does have it in him to put in solid performances at centre back and his distribution is underrated. I’m not sure O’Brien can play those sweeping long diagonals that Keane is very good at. I’m not a fan of Keane either BTW.
