2025/26 Thierno Barry

Lad looks utterly clueless, it baffles me how hes scored a single top level goal.

BUT.

Hes a youngish lad moving to the hardest league in the world and its gonna take time before we can judge him fairly.
Unexpected take, Goat. Watch him in the build up to Alcaraz’s goal last night. He pulled defenders like puppets and put a clever ball behind them. A moment later Armstrong lays off to Alcaraz who has 10 yards of space.

Hes done some good things, maybe its a me thing, I dont understand how a single PL footballer ever misplaces a pass, EVER.

I mean a 5 yard pass is the easiest thing in the world, I can do it consistently, yet every week I see PL footballers miss them over and again.

Yes, they are only human, but come on!

Rant over.

As for Barry, im not here to write him off, just to say he needs more time before we can judge the lad.

Fair. And ultimately he will need to score goals. So praising his link up play is a bit of me being protective of the lad.

Reckon he's playing nervous right now, the instinct things he's doing brilliantly, it's when he's getting time he's trying a bit too hard, notably seen in he's had three good chances on his head and needed to just glance them but he's trying to get great contact on it instead when it's not needed.

As he settles more he'll relax.
Totally agree

Classic swords and staircases display again from him, which is exactly what I expected

After 3 months he'll either have kicked on and really look the part or we'll be wondering if we'll manage to get our money back in the summer

You have the rather modern condition of internet brain, one of the symptoms of which is supremely unrealistic expectations of reality.

Been watching too many compilations on youtube.

Much like porn, you now expect people to finish in a certain way

Reality is very different, much more imperfect
aw for gawds sake not again , anyone got a tissue...

On the goalscoring front I will defend him and say the service hasn't really been incredible and most of his chances go to his head (which he should finish but he is dealing with PL defenders battling him for the ball so that will take adjustment). He does appear a very effective foil for Ndiaye who imo is our real striker anyways. Barry is everywhere on the pitch and he looks good with his feet which is a massive plus. If we can get him some service, I think it will be fairer to judge him as he has been excellent at times in the buildup. At this point it doesn't appear that he is doing too much wrong and I don't think his movement is bad.

I love all these knowledgeable pundits that are analysing Barry based on two Premier League games and a cup game. It's a new country, new league, new everything. Let's just support the lad and hold off the criticism. Perhaps creating a happy environment will allow him to thrive?

We seem to buy a lot of these strikers, Chermiti, Barry and Beto all in this bracket. None have kicked on £70m or so spend.

Alcaraz could have played him in when he took a shot instead, Armstrong also didn’t square for a tap in. There was another one where Barry and Alcaraz went for the same ball when free. That was just in the first half he could have had three goals.

His movement is very good, the link up play is very good, he just needs a goal and then he’ll be motoring.

Imagine how many of the bells who have give him stick, could at his age actually play competitive football, speak another language, move abroad and try to settle into one of the most historic football clubs in the country,
He may not or ever be what you want him to be, but give the kid a chance, yes he’s a kid.
idiots.

I find it bizarre that people don't see his clear ability and potential.

People saying "none have kicked on" about our new signing that has had 2 starts and been involved in all 3 goals, absolutely mental how people see desperate to write him off.

Go prove em all wrong Barry lad. The vaults await
