Empty seats when so many couldn't get tickets - how do we resolve this?

I must admit I’m utterly
baffled why you would design a stadium that can’t be filled for cup games because of the different away allocation . Does that happen anywhere else?
To some extent it happens at literally every stadium, nobody is designing a stadium specifically to deal with an issue which could feasibly not happen at all in any given season and will happen a maximum of 3/4 times. It may be that we have to leave more empty seats than would be ideal, but it was always going to be something that happened.

Perhaps some premium allocation didn't get reallocated/shifted but Seat Unique was sold out yesterday.

The issue as long predicted is the lack of ability to readily transfer tickets.

Life gets in the way sometimes, and people can't give their tickets away without a real faff.

Older fans aren't arsing about with that ticket transfer stuff. I'm 30s and I shudder if I have to login to Everton ticketing. Try calling? 3-6hour wait.

Countless times over the years I've had a spare, and would give it away. People take nieces/nephews their first game etc - they might not be invested in football/Everton, but they get a chance to start their journey. Students new to the city go the game. Now? There's a significant obstacle of requiring membership.

Empty seats will be inevitable when Everton create barriers to transfer tickets, in their pursuit of forcing paid annual memberships. It'll get worse as the season goes on too, as people wont be paying annual membership with fewer games of the season to go.
I think someone needs to get in touch with club to point this out.
All the tickets I got last season, were from friends, who either didn't charge me or charged me below face value. Anfield is full of tourists, who have almost certainly bought tickets from touts. You had blocks of tickets for Klopps last game, with people from Korea, India, Thailand. That's despite fact RS, allegedly have zero tolerance for touting.

They'll know it mate but membership revenue is the priority.

Surely that's one of the benefits of a brand new stadium, the ability to plan for a scenario such as this?

Anyway, for me, it's exasperating that the club should leave so many seats empty after spending three quarters of a billion quid designing and building a state-of-the-art stadium. I've contacted the club for clarification, so I'll copy it onto here when they eventually reply.

I was just replying to the post at face value. The poster was asking if it happens anywhere else, and the answer is yes, almost everywhere. I'm not saying it's absolutely impossible to avoid, but it's also fairly important to note that isn't some mad oversight that's never ever happened anywhere else.

Because primarily digital ticketing is a mandatory Premier League rule now. They're allowed to have exceptions e.g. for fans with disabilities who can't use a smartphone for example, but at 70% of tickets have to be digital.
My issue is that Premier League have caused touting issues. On their official channel, for RS last game against Palace, they interviewed fans from around world. These fans most likely bought tickets from touts. You can't market your product to global market and allow clubs like RS and United to profit from foreign fans for years, who have bought tickets from touts. Then punish clubs and fans who don't have an issue with touting. Most Everton season ticket holders, pass, STS along , for free. So if a fan taken I'll, or something changes last minute, I can't just pass season ticket on. I got a last minute ticket for Ipswich last season. Under current system that seat would simply be empty. Empty seats will be norm if situation continues.

Need a whole block of empty seats between us and the away end, but it’s absolutely sound to have a pint with them all on the plaza before the game 🤣
Or to have the Mansfield coaches literally pull up in the middle of Regent Road, spilling loads of fans out singing “You Scouse B**tar*s” as they walk up to the ground in the middle of loads of Everton fans before the game. 🤷🏻

I dont think that I can remember seeing that level of segregation anywhere else. Whole empty blocks of seats amounting to over 4000 empty seats? That's the equivalent of leaving the the whole upper Gwladys or Top Balcony empty. At the design stage, they will have known the upper limit for cup games, and permanent or temporary section barriers can be fitted in the bowl and in the concourse to maintain segregation. Ideally this could even be graduated for intermediate allocations for clubs unable to sell all their tickets, to ensure that the stadium is always as near to filled as possible. I am sure some clubs also request that visiting clubs pay for their allocation up front so that seats aren't left empty/unsold.
