Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

A wonderful weekend was had in Liverpool. Highlight was of course the match itself which is as you would expect. Although I had seen the outside of the ground a few times over the years, the scale of it is breathtaking when stood at it. Like a real weirdo, I had to just actually touch it to make it real.

An enjoyable stroll from the City Centre along with hundreds of other fans really made the atmosphere early on for me. You can see Regent Road changing rapidly to take advantage of new opportunities and it’s only a matter of time before it’s fully commercialised. I mean that in a positive way too, more choice and variety for fans.
Seen quite a few video's on social media of fans from both camps walking down Regents Road together and mingling on the concourse outside the ground having a crack. In times when there are so many tensions going on in everyday life I think that's fantastic. It was the same with Southampton fans outside Goodison in May tbf.

I remain totally inconvenienced by Beto AT . If we can bring in a quality striker I'd move him on in a heartbeat
Given the amount of football I actually watch, I feel distinctly underqualified to offer an opinion on football matters. But from the little I saw of Beto last season he appears particularly effective against teams that hold a high defensive line. Given who those teams are, I think he's worth holding onto if only as a starter in those games alone. He could also be effective off the bench if opponents are chasing the game late on, especially now we seem to have some creative players capable of exploiting his stronger attributes. We do need to add a third striker to the mix though. Two isn't enough.

Stick to commenting on music Fred 😂.

Seriously, obviously Beto has some qualities - physicality and pace - and is fine as an impact sub but we need a CF who can hold the ball up , move and score.

I’m hoping we don’t splash out £20mill for what would be a decent player but not first choice, just providing competition for places. Save the money, develop Armstrong instead of sending him out on loan, then next year spend £40-50 mill on a Grealish/Dibling type of player .
Yeah Armstrong could maybe fill that space. Now you mention it Gana, Garner, KDH and Armstrong for the deeper lying and one of KDH, Grealish, Alcaraz and even McBride for the advanced position, is arguably the best selection we've had for a while.

Haha. You telling me to stick to commenting on music is a good shout for post of the year.

Hopefully Barry will come to be that player. He hasn't been given a chance yet and we spent a lot of money on him. We do need cover and competition for Barry though.

Fred , hate to break this to you but Brian McBride is now in his 50s and hasn't played for us since 2003 😂

I found Brighton a friendly bunch who were looking forward to seeing the ground themselves. I was a little surprised that they weren’t actually from Brighton though.

It was the same last night, a friendly atmosphere with away fans mingling and chatting, even let them put a flag up in tenstreets social. I think most true football fans will be looking forward to seeing HD stadium. To be fair it was the same in the GP fanzone whenever you went in. I think we’re a friendly lot on the whole.
