2025/26 Thierno Barry

I seem to disagree with most in this feed. I've seen enough already. Doesn't seem to be able to do anything right. headers the ball like his got a 50p head, can't hold the ball up, can't run with the ball, can't break the line as he looks like his running in custard. I'm i completely wrong?
In the last two games we've scored three goals directly from him holding the ball up - one of those after he broke the line - second v Brighton, so yeah you're talking crap.

He's not the answer for this season. Cameo appearances, yes. Starting games and leading the line, no.

We have a conundrum with the striker situation again. No point having Grealish, Ndiaye, and Dibling with no proper threat up front. Neither Barry or Beto are the answer if we want to seriously improve our attacking metrics.
Won the two games he has started and led the line with him being involved in 3 of the 4 goals we have scored.

The flick ons he does with the outside of the boot on his first touch are very good. He has very good vision for bringing others into the play.

Yes he looks a bit limby with the ball, but with the players we now have, the one touch pass and go works very well.
Reckon he's playing nervous right now, the instinct things he's doing brilliantly, it's when he's getting time he's trying a bit too hard, notably seen in he's had three good chances on his head and needed to just glance them but he's trying to get great contact on it instead when it's not needed.

As he settles more he'll relax.

What I really like about him is even when he’s only getting a touch to the ball, it’s more often than not a touch into an Everton player. If he can’t control it, he gets the flick on to someone in a blue shirt.

His hold up play is light years ahead of Beto.

He struggled at times with the physicality of the game last night. But new young players coming into the English game often struggle against lower league opposition as the referee lets more go and they just aren’t used to it.

Needs one given to him on the deck likes betos (which could have happened in first half).

He hasn’t really had a sniff apart from the headers.

But yeah, the instinct stuff is great. Just desperate to make a good impression.

We won the game at Brighton because of him starting the game and leading the line. Neither goal happens without him.

Some good signs from this lad but to say he’s ‘raw’ would be an understatement.

He needs game time to develop confidence and adapt to this league.
Will he make it and own the starting position? I’m not so sure.
Hopefully we’re looking at an experienced striker before Monday.
