Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

None of City, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea would have bought Pienaar either. The only thing Ndiaye lacks is a full back like Baines behind him. He's already showing a clear pair of heels to Pienaar with his goals. Would i swap him for Piennaar at his peak. No chance.
Pienaar was perfect for that team as Cahill got his goals. We need Ndiaye as he gets goals unlike any other attacking midfielders. Hopefully that changes this season.

Unlikely I reckon...

Caveat - as with all players. Offer comes that's too good you take it (provided we've already got someone lined up - and they'll say yes).

Plus, we're only now starting to get the squad numbers up. Selling without a guaranteed replacement would be foolish and counter productive to what we've done so far.

Do agree that a striker with different skill sets and experience would be beneficial (mitrovic, Toney)

Generally, January is a different story IMO. Still in financial year. And, Beto and McNeil and Alcaraz will have seen where they're at regarding starts. Reckon we could see more movement there.

Concentrate on the "musts" in the here and now. DM and RB. Get them in and then start planning again (when we're top 8 in Jan).

Everton wasn't built in a day.
The January window seems the best time to sell the likes of McNeil and Beto to desperate clubs in a relegation battle as they've both shown 'just enough' for teams to see them as players who could make the difference.

We'd still need replacements.

Not sure we’d see anywhere near those fees.

He was 20 mill when we bought him and we’ve had 3 seasons of his five year deal. His book value is probably about 8 mill so I’d wager anything from about 10-15 mill to a championship club to help our PSR position and give him the game time he wants. Maybe Burnley might come back in or another lower end prem team. He’d be an absolute star for Wrexham.
Wait till you see the bottom3 sitting on single digit points during christmas. Desperate times will push them towards desperate signings. 30m if they can afford.

Looking back that Chermiti purchase was absolutely crazy. Up against the wall with PSR issues, no fit first choice striker, and we drop 12 mill on a development prospect from Sporting Lisbon. Thelwell going absolutely crazy.
Said similar at the time, and just 5 months later Ekitike was available for 16m euros from PSG. They don't get a lot of rubbish through and trusted with games for them, and is a product of the very famed France national youth excellence program. Shambles.

I assume the fee was heavily back loaded but, given our finances at the time, I take your point. It's funny because, if you have cash available, it's the sort of moves you should be making, signing promising youngsters on the drip, because you only need some to come off. Sadly, we were brassic and weren't signing multiple promising youngsters!
