Seems like Wirtz isn't the world class operator they expected him to be. My red mate funnily enough already wasn't convinced when they were about to drop £120m on him.. seems like he was on to something.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge him.

To be fair we did the same thing with Dibling. Left the offer on the table and stuck our best poker faces on. Difference though being Newcastle do not in any way need the money other than for PSR purposes.

The other thing is though that the media weren't covering the Dibling story 24/7.

Too early to call as yet, but they very rarely get a big money signing wrong as at that price they are oven ready, in absolute years I can recall only a few Andy Carol and Nunez and even he scored some important goals for them. Of course I would love you to be right for selfish reasons.

But still… 120mill is steep to pay for any player. At the price, he better at least be a Ballon d'Or nominee… AT least!

Spent a lot on Keita & Tiago as well who didn't work out for one reason (crap) or another (perma crocked).

He hasn’t been injured in what? About 3 seasons? Surely he’ll experience some wear and tear this season?!?

Add to that, they’ve already leaked 4 goals in 2 games…
So, I doubt it’ll be as an easy rise as it was last season.
