- will earn us around Ā£250k, the price of a decent striker at our level (so the equivalent of about Ā£40m to you!)
To give you some background - we're a small Midlands club that has only ever played in Tier 2 of the pyramid for a solitary season in the 70s. We average around 7/8000 at home, but this is a relatively new and high level of support, relative to our historic numbers. We're on an upward trajectory, with an owner who genuinely cares and is willing to sensibly spend money on infrastructure and gradually improve all areas. In Nigel Clough, we have about as good a manager as we could hope for. He's the 4th longest serving manager in England and will probably become our longest ever serving manager in the next couple of seasons.
6000 of us will be making the trip tomorrow, which has surprised me tbh. We travel very well for a club our size, averaging over 1000 in League One (more than most of the ex-Prem clubs in that league), but to take this many across the country on a Wednesday night, is phenomenal. You'll hear us loud and clear.
Best of luck in your new ground. I hope it brings you lots of happy memories and becomes the home that Goodison was to you. I'm delighted that we are an early part of its history, under the lights for the first time. Hope to chat to some of your fans pre/post match. Up the Stags!

Cracking evening for us. Felt our fans were a bit flat, probably because of how many were there. Were used to 1000 hardcore away fans who make a proper noise all game (literally song after song after song), but there were day trippers and families out tonight, and randomly spread about. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for all your kind words on here and best of luck for the season.

Gotta disagree with you there mate, thought your lot were excellent all night.
Loud and didn't shut up all game. If that was flat, I'd hate to hear you all when you're on it!!
More than can be said for some of ours who seemed to spend most of the night up and down to the facilities. But that's just my pet peeve.
