Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

People seem to think because Brownhill is on a free then we should get him in as we need depth. That is getting someone in that isn't near good enough to be in the squad for the sake of numbers is the point I am making. I would much rather give Armstrong the chance or get someone in on loan.
Agree that we need more depth but players like Brownhill are not the answer and just send us backwards.

Tyler Onyango gets in the squad.

Playing Zat like 4d transfer chess....I wonder if Wolves sold Strand Larsen to Newcastle for £60m and wanted a PL experienced striker to join their Portuguese contingent if they might go for Beto and at what price we would be happy to do a deal this late in the window.

If we had another striker lined up ( there was talk of Dju and a 21yr old at Villarreal?) I'd be sorely tempted to move Beto on if Wolves stumped up £35-40m

Dju seems an intriguing prospect and available for under £20m. Surely Beto would command a similar fee in return, and a bit more. I like Beto but in that scenario the potential upside of Dju would be worth sacrificing Beto for imo.

Assuming we got an RB on loan that would leave what was left of the kitty for a DM.

Paddy Boyland on the Blue Room podcast said there was money available but not of the sort committed for Dibling.

If we could bring three in and Beto out then it would be shrewd business I think.

We have to get RB / DM so I hope that's where the focus lies.

I’m not saying I would. I’m saying I could see Moyes doing it. Managers tend to pick their signings over the players they inherited.

Long term though we can improve on Ndiaye. He’s a good player but I do think sometimes he is overhyped by blues. He’ll get goals for sure but when you say he’s our most creative he doesn’t get many assists.
You do know you can be creative without getting assists, right?

Stat bummers are honestly the greatest scourge on contemporary football commentariat

Neither does Grealish in general.

I’m not a massive stats fan, instead I just compare relative quality and my opinion on it.

I don’t think Ndiaye is at the level that prime Pienaar was for us (a comparable player) and Pienaar was only at the level to play in what was a Europa league level tema at the time.

None of City Liverpool Arsenal or Chelsea would buy Ndiaye from us. They’d take Pickford or Branthwaite though, Grealish also played for them. That’s the difference in quality I’m talking about. He’s a good playmaker but he’s not a CL level playmaker, perhaps not even Europa league level. He’s been a good player in bottom half PL teams.

He’s told them he wants to leave
His new agent has told the newspaper he wants to leave... Boro also put out a statement yesterday saying they weren't going to be selling him. It's all posturing right now. If a 30m bid is received, he's gone. If a 20m bid is received, he's unlikely to be let go at this late stage.

Maybe you’re right, Ndiaye needs to become more consistent, but Arsenal just signed Madueke for £55m and I would take Ndiaye all day over him.
