Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I think if you’d asked anyone do you want Grealish Dibling KDH Barry Alcaraz Aznou, Travers in

And Calvert Lewin, Doucoure, Young, Begovic, Virginia out along with all of the loan players.

Plus extending Branthwaite.

I think almost everyone would have taken that.

Yes there’s still a couple of positions that need strengthening but this is a far better squad than the one that finished last season.
Don’t forget tying Keggenbauer down for another couple of years.

Let's be honest, if we do sign a RB & no.6, its not been an adequate window, its been an unbelievable window from what the squad was the last few seasons
Giving the manager the tools he needs to compete is the absolute bare minimum of what should be expected going forward.

Our squad is still short of essential reinforcements in two positions. In my opinion, only when those two areas have been covered, can the window be deemed anything above acceptable.

Bloody hell Ste, a triple text?! Even my ma doesn't want me to message her back so quickly

Moyes could very easily go to a 3 at the back with Dibling and Grealish/Ndiaye as his wide options. Gana Gueye-KDH-Soucek sitting behind Ndiaye/Grealish. Was something he used at West Ham regularly.

Pickford
JOB-Tark-JB
Dibling-Gana-KDH-Soucek-Grealish
Ndiaye
Barry

Essentially in that formation mate - we have zero holding midfielder both Gueye and KDH like to press high, Soucek is statistically poor defensively - and has no recovery pace whatsoever and doesn't have the positioning and reading of the game like Barry did.

Grealish and Dibling would end up more in a wingback role and would end up doing a similar job that Lindstrom got pelters for last season.

You're basically to accommodate Soucek playing both wide players in a defensive system against their strengths, playing changing us to a back three that none of the CBs have ever looked comfortable playing in. And all to accommodate a immobile none defensive DM in the side.

Would be an abortion of a system and decision.

P.S. answer your mum quicker then!!!! ;)

Everything ok there, L?
All good RT. I realise off the back of a good win the last thing people want to read is something that can be seen as negative, but I think we all, myself certainly included, need to stop giving the club praise when it does something that should be considered the bare minimum.

I have been guilty too many times of giving the club praise at the end of the window, because I’ve rated the business they have done whilst overlooking the business they haven’t.

Plugging all weaknesses of a squad should be the aim of any summer transfer window. In my opinion, we are yet to accomplish this, and I don’t believe the window can be spoken of positively in its entirety until we do.

Yes and we may get another couple in anyway to top it off.

We still have key areas of weakness though - RB, Striker and another body in midfield. Get those sorted then it would be a fantastic window.

Find it mad people making such a defence over signing players like Soucek and Brownhill. They aren’t good enough and both would want a decent enough wage. Giving the manager options like these players isn’t a good thing and will see us stagnate and not move forward like we should be doing.

He's only 30. Should be ok
While I’m not fussed either way with him, judging him this season on playing for West Ham v Chelsea is wrong. If you looked at us first half against Leeds you’d be writing off O’Brien, Garner, Dewsbury-Hall and Alcaraz straight away.
O’Brien and garner ??? Leeds hardly looked like scoring, they’re also playing out of position. And Alcaraz is 22 and KDH 26. Our problem v Leeds was we got bullied a bit first half, we were the better side, that’s not saying much but it was a fact

Soucek is 30 and looks done imo, he’s only going down hill and to potentially commit 30mil for 3yrs would be criminal
