Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Maybe he doesn't think Mainoo is that talented though, Nobody seems to know what his best position is, off the ball he is not great and there is the small issue of him wanting mega bucks on a new contract which so far he has done nothing to justify.
Maybe true, i dont know what im talking about, just researched and saw it was Ten Hag that signed Ugarte. I will say that Man Utd have ruined some young talent though: Rashford, Sancho, Garnacho, Anthony, and now Mainoo...not saying they are choir boys but my God, why give them all crazy contracts?...Seems like Mainoo was just a little too late to that party🤣 Anyway, enough about Man Utd, they will be fine with Maguire, Casemiro and Luke Shaw:)))

Yes - he is a defensive midfielder with unique attacking attributes:

But theres the problem...thats the 2019/ 2020 version...its 2025!

Lindelöf has played in the following positions and a breakdown of appearances:
  • Centre-Back: 371 appearances
  • Defensive Midfield: 23 appearances
  • Right-Back: 21 appearances
  • Left-Back: 10 appearances
  • Central Midfield: 1 appearance
Are we actually linked?

Here's his top 3 most err memorable outings via GPT (I think it's possibly the Spurs game that sticks in my mind).

1. Huddersfield Town vs. Man Utd (October 2017)

In what is often cited as Lindelöf’s most disastrous outing, he was brought on as a substitute when Phil Jones went down injured. Just 10 minutes later, he misjudged a long ball and was beaten by Laurent Depoitre, who rounded David de Gea and scored. A truly forgettable debut in terms of impact.

2. Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Man Utd (August 2018)

Widely criticized for poor positioning, Lindelöf was outmaneuvered by Glenn Murray, who flicked the opener. His performance, along with Eric Bailly’s, contributed to a 3‑2 defeat on the opening match of the season—labeled by some publications as United’s worst showing under José Mourinho.

3. Tottenham vs. Man Utd (Shortly After Brighton, August 2018)

Coming off that debut, Lindelöf was subbed on and soon committed errors: a weak backward pass nearly allowed Dele Alli to score, and he failed to properly mark Harry Kane from a corner. Jamie Carragher later remarked: “I actually feel a bit sorry for him … he should not be playing at this level.”

Bobble says it wasn’t even an offer, it was an enquiry but we were given no further encouragement to proceed. As always with these things the truth will be in there somewhere

Here's hoping Moyes has been pushing for him so the recruitment team rang west ham.

EV "Hi it's Everton, is Soucek for sale?"

WH "It depends what you are offering?"

EV "OK, Cheers, so that's a no not for sale under any circumstances then..."

WH "Wait, I didn't....." Everton hang up fast.

Recruitment team go into Moyes office.

"Sorry Davie, we tried, we begged, we did everything we could, but they're adamant he's not for sale this window under any circumstances..."
"Now, take a look at this young Danish lad at Genoa...."

The player we are looking for (not necessarily him) is Ross B at Luton. He played a deep centre midfield, tackling very well, spraying passes over oppo's midfield. Occasionally venturing forward - into the upper third. He was brilliant there (for Luton), in my opinion more so than his role as Lukaku’s valet . I know history is exceedingly poor between Mr RB and the old Everton board, but do not have insight. However this role is what we need.

The other point about employing an aged to do this role, is I think (i don’t know) this is position that Harrison Armstrong is looking for, so a gradual bedding in a good idea, rather than buying someone who keeps him out of the side

I kind of get your point, but Newcastle, Villa and Forest have already made their progress in qualifying for European competitions. So whilst they may be a bit frustrated right now, they don’t regret maxing out their expenditure one bit, and Newcastle and Forest both achieved it by investing in an over 30 Chris Wood, who everyone on here would have whinged about had we signed him.

It all depends on the price of course, but the idea that Soucek couldn’t hold down a place at Everton and is on his way to the knacker’s yard isn’t accurate imo. I think he’d get both game time and goals at Everton, and would be a valued addition depending on the price.
We need a disciplined DM with Mobility and passing ability. Soucek is not that
