Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

For what it’s worth, since you asked, I still think our strategy and planning for the window was all over the place and Moyes pulling a rabbit out of a hat with no wingers or full backs available to him for the opening two games hasn’t changed that one bit.
Any other day and Brighton would be 2 up by half time and everyone would be losing it. They must be wondering how they managed to lose that game.

Feels very much like Moyes has his targets and ideas for going forward, and the rest of the recruitment team have theirs.

One of my concerns with Soucek is that it allows Moyes to indulge his worst pragmatic tendencies.

We've signed a number of good, technical player this summer which is a welcome change from the dross we've had here for the last few years.

Moyes loves Soucek and I could just see him finding a way of getting him in the team which would make us play worse football and be weaker overall, but it being justified by Moyes and others because he'd chip in with half a dozen goals or more over the season
The Doucoure Conundrum

Soucek in the Doucoure role is a substantial downgrade.

If we need a 10, that is Alcarazs position and he puts a really good thru ball for the striker.

And costs nowt
How is that not an upgrade?

On another day, our defence don’t make those basic and sloppy mistakes and Brighton literally have zero chances in the first half.

We can all play that game.

You said he's not fancied because they played someone out of position, I said he was just back from injury.
You said we should bid, I'm saying there is no point because he'll play plenty for them.
Now you're saying we'd never get him despite saying we should bid

What was your point if I missed it? Seems a very well camouflaged point tbf
Trying to draw the OP out

They hit the woodwork twice, missed a pen and Welbeck somehow missed an open goal. There’s no doubt that Brighton were the better team, especially in the first half.
I can recall us being the better team loads of times over the years, and getting nothing. Unable to convert. So I’ll take Sunday as a positive development rather than a lucky one.

Yeah, but every good chance they had in the first half came from an amateur level mistake, such as Tarks back pass etc. it wasn’t because of good play etc. and the pen was laughable as well.

I’m not saying they weren’t the better team, but you can say an argument for every move or every play in every game by saying, “on another day, that goes in” etc.

Its pointless.

On another day, we have Myko and Branthwaite playing and the mistakes don’t happen.
