Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Is it? We have negotiated the option for a reason, and ability wise he's obviously well ahead of everyone else in the squad. Assuming all things go well and his wages aren't an issue (given what's reported, they aren't and that's a reason he's here now) then it'd be a pretty fair thing to predict?

He’s played 1 game, let’s not get silly and project us spending £50m on him.

Rambling here so be warned
If we sign the attacking RB we all want then we need to sign a top class CDM to go with him
Dibling is a left footed right winger who like to cut inside
That leaves a gap for the FB to run into
Problem arises when possession is lost with both our tight sided players high up the pitch
A quick counter and we are dependent on Tarks as the right sided CB to cover
Blessed as he is with a lot of qualities pace is not one of them and I’d hate to see him go 1v1 against a pacy winger
Left side is ok because Branthwaite has the pace to manage.
I’m not sure what Dibling g is like for tracking back but at 19 he will still have a lot to learn about the game
That’s why a fast mobile physically imposing CDM is vital ( plus Gana at his age can’t play every game and then there is AFCON )
Garner is a squad player at this stage filling in gaps at RB, LB And CM
I’d like to see a proper RB a CDM and then an experienced striker on loan
Mitrovic for all his faults is a different type of striker to what we have , is PL proven and can score goals
Perchance if we do get a marauding RB in who gets caught upfield then the Right sided CB soon may be O'Brien. Tarkowski has been great but he has made a few errors lately and is not getting any younger. CB partnership of O'Brien and Branthwaite is the future.
And on that point O'Brien can handle tricky wingers if needs be - see Mitoma.

Can’t see that mate. We aren’t paying 50m for a 30 year that will be nearly 31. Just enjoy him while we have him.
.
We have to get past this notion that £50m is some massive number these days, it's not. Madueke is a £50m player, Wolves just turned down £50m+ for a player today. It's not a big amount for a transfer anymore, fairly standard PL fee these days, which I know is mental.

It's massive for someone with 1yr left on their contract though

It'd be our record signing. It's far from standard.

£50m for 31-year old with 12 months on his deal is mental. Don’t care if it’s 2005, 2025 or 2125.

If he works out here and he’s happy then we will definitely try and sign him
But there is no way on gods green earth we are paying anything like 45/60 m pounds sterling for a near 31 yr old winger
29/25 max
Other clubs can offer City more but if Jack says it’s Everton or nothing what will city do
Would they loan him to us for another year or sell him at what we consider a fair price

Its just way too early to even contemplate that stuff , he had a stellar game , that notion becomes discourse if he keeps performing at that level for another 20 or so games then we can talk about such matters

50m is a massive number for us. We are in no position to be buying players for 50m with no re-sale value at all. Buying players and losing them for free over the past few years is partly to do with us struggling with psr for years.

I’d assume we’d just loan him again if he wants to stay. City will want his wages off the books again, they’re too high to shift permanently now. Another loan deal will suit all parties once again.
