Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Soucek id be okay with but only if we still have plans to bring in a definitive holding defensive mid , bonus points if they could serve as a deep lying midfielder as it's imperative since we don't have any players that fit that profile maybe Armstrong but still an unknown entity

Would you not be willing to trust Moyes's judgment on Soucek?
The recruitment we've done this summer has been excellent, and we have actually managed to avoid the 'PL experience = dross factor' by bringing in really good footballers.

Soucek is a functional footballer who, despite his physicality, plays in a West Ham midfield that often gets dominated. His passing is very poor, in the bottom 7% of PL midfielders AND bottom 7% for progressive passes. He is clocked statistically (and this should come as no surprise to anyone who has ever actually watched him) as one of the slowest players in the Premier League - and in Europe.

His biggest strength is arriving late into the box - something we cannot really have him doing in our side, where we need a sitter. He turns 31 during the season and would command a big fee for his age and ability.

More red flags than Anfield. So much better out there and I bet there's a lot cheaper out there too. If the manager insists on a 6 with PL experience, let's find him a better one. Or find him PL experience in the other positions we are recruiting for.

He really really did. I’m pretty sure someone compared KDH to Tim Cahill when I was saying I didn’t like the signing a few weeks ago. Things have been tweaked but he’s a 4-4-1-1 lifer.

This was also not meant as a criticism. It’s a good, functional, and versatile way to play. But he’s always adapted within his system. He’s not turned up with a team looking like Antonio Conte’s at some point.

So that’s not rigid and one dimensional is it? We did not play the same way with Fellaini in the number 10 as we did when we had Cahill playing the box to box midfield role in a flat 5.
