SKY Coverage

Weird assessment. I didn’t think that at all, and Brighton were much better than us overall. If anything I imagine the Brighton fans would probably complain today’s show was all about Everton, the new stadium and Grealish
I thought to myself that I would be annoyed as a Brighton fan. They only talked about us the stadium and Grealish. I thought they were surprisingly positive to us. I honestly don't understand the constant need to try to find something, anything to be negative about.

….as posted in the Stadium thread, Sky commentator Gary Weaver’s words as the teams entered the pitch were entirely fitting of the occasion. I thought that was excellent and well done to him.

Worth a listen for those who haven’t heard it.
Absolutely correct.

I think those having a go at sky coverage probably mean carraghers coverage as he couldn't stop saying how well Brighton had played and that they were by far the better team. They were just about the better side first half but part of playing well is taking your chances which they didn't and we did. Second half we were much better and we should have scored more. Personally the sky coverage (carragher commentary aside) was fine and did show the ground off well and did say how great it was, I'm just sick of hearing spitty commentating on our games.

I thought there seemed to be a lot more respect for us from Sky yesterday than I can recall in the last 15 years. Guess we’ll see how long that lasts.

Even their ads noticeably had more Everton presence in them than I can recall.

Only annoyance for me being that panoramic shot for GP to BMD that they still
Managed to get the Hole Punch in. Wouldn’t have minded if they had made a comment about all three of Everton’s stadiums etc but just seemed a gratuitous opportunity to show it.
That said was literally only on screen for a second an I’m being overly sensitive because they’re horrible neighbours.
They did. They said from Anfield to Goodison to the Hill Dickinson, Everton had left their mark on the footballing architecture of the city

Did you miss that bit?

Actually thought they were positive about us for once. It won't last but think they bought into the occasion
I thought the external camera visuals were a bit off. I don’t know what the rationale was for viewing the stadium looking beyond into Bootle/seaforth etc as opposed the opposite direction to the city centre skyline. Maybe that shot was too sexy for them.

I don't know if the drones used by the TV coverage yesterday were banned from flying facing towards the city and river?
Every shot from them was facing towards the sewage works, why?
Is there signage on the North Stand with Hill Dickenson? That's the only reason I could come up with, that they wanted a shot of the stadium to include Hill Dickenson.
Had to miss the game yesterday so watched on TV and the camera work was largely a disgrace in relation to that and felt deliberate.

Can't see any reason why they wouldn't be able to show shots of the City from the Stadium but every time they did it towards the Sewage Works.

Whoever was involved clearly didn't want to show off the link between Everton and the City and wanted to focus in on the ugly side of the ground. They could have still got the HD signage in too regardless of where they started off showing.

It confuses some people when they see that liver birds are as much about Everton as anyone else ...

It did feel a little like that

I thought he set the tone brilliantly.

Just imagine if Brighton had make shift defense like we did for second game on trot ... They would have not stopped squawking about it. Can only imagine the noise if that was any of the sky six having to field players out of position!

Strongly disagree that they were 'much better' than us. Thought we gave as good as we got, which the MOTD highlights failed to show. Got fortunate on two occasions that we didnt concede but I wouldnt suggest that we rode our luck either. We deserved the win.

Thought we were comfortable tbh. Ok there were hair rasing moments, break those down though, 2 were Tarks having a mare in the first half - a deflected shot hit a post and a dodgy penalty.

The only time they carved us open is when Welbeck missed the sitter.
