New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Well i think the question over whether the new stadium can generate the same sort of atmosphere as Goodison has been well and truly answered and then some. It was absolutely fantastic. šŸ’™

Goodison always had a unique atmosphere, picking up at the back of the lower gwladys and then coming down to the front. We need that at BMD, as can imagine everyone is now more spread out. It will get there when everyone is adjusted.

The wierd thing about yesterday was the sound. It came from everywhere. Normally when a chant gets going in a stand, all you can hear is the sound from that stand, but you could hear it from everywhere, all different timings from the chants. Was a bit mad.

I think that the worry people had about singing groups being split up has potentially helped. Rather than having a single group trigger it off, theres loads of groups triggering it off.

I noticed that too. In the upper south the chants were being started from different places. Very pleasing

It's good to bring a bit of atmosphere to the ground. Clubs usually lose a bit when they move to a new ground.

Totally and utterly in love with our new home, she’s just magnificent. Not ashamed to admit that a few tears were shed at multiple points yesterday.

Outside with the plaza, Everton way and now the western terrace is just majestic - seeing her from the river side rendered me speechless, and the steps there give some amazing views and places to meet up with people - it felt much less congested outside than it has the previous games.

Inside, pitch facing, as I’ve said before, is simply the best seat I have ever had to watch a football game at, wherever I’ve sat in our new ground.

Ive been in the south, west and east stands across the test events and haven’t found a bad seat - it’s testament to the job Dan Meis and the builders have done, incredible. The sound system is brilliant - there she goes set me off crying, and spirit of the blues and z-cars felt like they physically hit me, in a good way.

The noise from the fans is deafening, just immense, especially when we all get going - hair raising stuff. To be that loud for a Sunday afternoon game bodes really well for future, bigger games.

Still some issues at the bars with queuing longer than Goodison, equipment breaking and running out of ale/food etc, that will need to be addressed, and I’m sure they will be in time.

Thanks to all the staff & stewards who were working hard and were great with us, and thanks to the 53000 other toffees who were there with us, and made it an incredible experience for our first league game.

I’ll always miss Goodison, but BMD is beautiful and amazing and will only get better as we grow with her.

Ill put some pics up shortly.
