2025/26 Thierno Barry

Did you actually watch the game? He was useless in the air and, for the first, he literally fell over. Brilliant result and brilliant stadium doesn't mean i cannot comment on our new star striker.
Define useless in the air please

Last season in the league top three forwards for aerial duels won:

Paul onuachu - 61.2%
George Hirst - 58.2%
Erline Haaland - 53.3%

Barry only played 1 game so not a true sample size but its far from useless. Ill admit his accuracy in terms of who the headers went to wasnt alwasy spot on but alot of the game there wasnt a player closeby for the second ball which is quite common with our team.

As for falling over it really doesnt matter he controlled a long throw with no team mate within 15 yards and under pressure. allowing the team to advance. doe she fall? yes. does he enable the team to progress from our half to their box and score also yes. fans have complained for 4 years about dcl and beto not holding the ball up and it coming straight back. he done what fans have wanted for years in that instance

Was better than Beto was at Leeds. Operated in harmless areas though which needs to change. Could do with putting himself about a bit, and clattering some opponents, just to show willing.

Difficult to start games as the other team has its proper structure and is cautious. Beto could run around at the end because there was more space and they were taking more risks. Plus he knew he only had a short time to expend all of his energy.

Not particularly sparkling so far, but way too early to judge. If nothing else, they will have more footage to show him of what he should do and in particular where he should run. We had the ball deep or in midfield, his body shape wasn’t inviting balls in behind or down channels. He’s just a bit reactionary, rather than making it obvious where the ball should be played.

He’s new to us and the PL, but he is not new to playing professional football matches at a reasonable level. It’s correct to have some high expectations of the very basics.

Just think he should show more aggression. Give a few fouls away in their half. Gets the crowd on side and will just get him properly into the game rather than the periphery.

Was involved in the build up for both goals.

I think our current Frankenstein's monster of a system doesn't help him and there's clearly some adjusting to the league/club to be done.
Far too early to write him off and it may be a bit deeper inter the season before we see him really begin to shine.
Until then, we need to show something that out fan base is not good at when it comes to players - patience.

Saw glimpses today, He’s raw but will come good, at the moment he’s not sure whether to run in behind or play as some type of focal point with his back to goal, By Christmas we’ll see a well rounded Prem striker, He’s no Chermitti 👊🏻

Just to remind- Isak scored 6 league goals in a season for Sociedad before his transfer to Newcastle.

And Lewandowski ended up with 8 in his first season at Dortmund.
