New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Great shout this, we can’t let any issues with turnstiles, long queues or the bars running out of stuff or whatever ruin what is a momentous day. The staff are only trying to do their jobs and it’s new for them, so patience is a must.

What we can and should affect today and every day going forward is the noise and atmosphere inside the stadium hitting the pitch.

Let’s make the world shake, let Brighton know it’s a proper game, support every single man in royal blue and scream for every ball, throw in, tackle, pass or foul to properly start our journey at BMD.

Let’s make BMD even better than Goodison ever was.

See you soon blues - UTFT!

It's usually dictated by the level of performance so 🤷- I fear all these people attracted by lounges and blue donuts etc will dilute it.

They're getting this guy to read his poem out before the siren btw.

That's @ToffeeDan son. ToffeeDan was a great poster on here who passed away a few years ago. In fact, I think he was the first (or one of the first) to mention the docks as a potential site for our new stadium

Hope he's looking down as proud as anything if his son is going to have the chance to read a poem at the stadium. Yandalf is off the YT channel Forever Everton as well.

It's standard practice in sports sponsorship to have "sector exclusivity", on the basis that branding partners are paying a premium. A long time ago I worked with a sports marketing agency in Asia (essentially run by a football agent) and they were hawking shirt sponsorship deals around for 2 Prem clubs. (This was around the time Emirates were taking stadium naming rights for Arsenal - I can't recall if they were the first or Reebok at Notlob were).

You would have a standard kit of parts which is what benefits they would get, and there was negotiation / flexibility around that. Some companies wanted to involve their "customers", so wanted to package competitions to win a corporate box for a day at X, etc. It really depended on the sponsor's business model.

Around this ecosystem there was a compay that used to measure sponsorship exposure. So each match would generate a ROMI (return on marketing investment) report that would provide metrics related to brand exposure, and convert to dollar value. Remember, at the time the number of games broadcast in UK was a lot less, but overseas was more, and moving towards all 380 games (which happened in the late noughties).

I saw the sponsor list that Man U had. And it was like a Yellow Pages directory of every sort of company and a lot of them nothing to do with the UK. They had an official Clock Partner - a Japanese company. I suspect they didn't pay much, but it gave them the rights to associate their brand with Man U in their markets.

The point I'm trying to make @davek is that 20 years ago clubs were way ahead of us commercially. At one stage in the early noughties our neighbours commercial revenue alone (i.e. sponsorship) was more than our total revenue (matchday, commercial and broadcast). Think about that. Meanwhile if we're paying Grealish full wages, then my Forever Blue+ membership (for the opportunitiy to bid on a ticket on one of my 2 trips to UK this season) will cover 2 minutes of his wages.

I know you have a hatred of our sponsor, but I've seen messages (that I actually have permission to share and have done with some) that say to me that we may have actuallybeen rather clever, and found a sponsor that is keen to develop with the club, and thinks it will bring revenue opportunities to them.

(And for the record, I agree with the sentiment that the HD branding is a bit OTT).

The two biggest named 'brands' in English football you highlight as using 'standard practice' for a couple of decades dont compare to Everton right now with our deal with H.D. ....unless I missed them changing their stadiums from Anfield and Old Trafford 20 yard ago and exclusively plastering their stadiums with huge corporate lettering with barely a clue that Liverpool and United played in them.

Stadiums are sacrosanct; and within sport football is the most tribal of all and notoriously difficult to change or encroach in terms of club identity.

In short: I reject your argument as meaningless in the context you offer it. Just sophistry.

We all know the last few years haven’t been easy. Results on the pitch have been patchy, managers have come and gone, and more than once we’ve looked over our shoulder instead of up the table. Goodison has given us memories for a lifetime, but it’s also been a place where frustration has boiled over and weighed heavy on the team.

Now we’re stepping into a new home and whatever anyone says that matters. It’s a chance to turn the page. A chance to give our players an atmosphere that lifts them instead of drags them down. We’ve seen too often how heads drop when the groans and boos start and we know confidence is fragile in football. But the opposite is also true, when the crowd is behind them even average players can find another level.

The stadium alone won’t solve everything. We need the right recruitment, smart management and a bit of luck along the way. But the new ground does give us something priceless, a clean slate. For years we’ve carried the weight of expectation and frustration. This is our chance to change that story.

So let’s make the new ground a fortress. Let’s make it the place where opponents hate to come and our lads feel ten feet tall. We’ll have cold nights and tough runs but if we stick with them and back them even when they’re wobbling we can turn the tide.

Everton’s history is built on resilience, graft and sticking together when the chips are down. That hasn’t changed. This is the time to remember who we are and to show it every week. A new stadium, a new chapter and hopefully a new spirit in the stands.

It's going t be a great day.

It'd help no end if this sun would finally show its face after about a week of low lying cloud that puts years on you. Must be like living on the North Sea coast this!

Rampant victory for us I think. IMO the lack of wins at BMD Stadium so far is actually a good thing. You just know if we'd won all test events there and scored loads so far we'd be beaten today. We'll crack this though...2-0 or 3-0.

I've just been passed the ground on my way to work.

Its already beginning to buzz.

The staff are turning up, stalls are being put up, pubs getting flags out, the road is ready to be closed, both sets of fans are arriving for a look at our new home.

Its magnificent. You can already sense the excitement.

Enjoy fellow Blues.

Just picking up from points in other posts. I’ll be saying hello to everyone around me and be learning a few names. I also won’t be scared to act and support as I did at Goodison, regardless of my neighbours.

I’ll be at Block 240, Row 44, Seat 208 if you want to avoid me.
You don't need to tell people where you are, They'll figure it out by the smell !!!!!
