Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Most clubs don’t have 4 defenders missing to injury. An amount which would cause virtually every team in the league a problem.
Mate injuries have been a problem for us for years! Have we addressed it? ( Can it be addressed?) Maybe are fbs are always injured because we have zero depth there and they all play too many minutes? I mean Seamus is injured because hes past it...Myk plays too many minutes...Patterson hurt himself getting repeatedly put on his arse in the pre season friendlies...the new guy...still a mystery. Not sure what my point is but for Everton bad luck injuries is an excuse that wore out .any years ago...

I think that’s the choice mate.

We need to decide if we continue to sell our best young o,Ayers every couple of years and sustain with Brentford, Bournemouth and Palace or we try and rub shoulders and compete with Spurs and Villa.
Spurs, with their stadium designed to effectively print money, are probably always going to be out of reach for us financially, but Villa are a fair one. They don't have huge revenues, they just have owners who want to spend. Ditto Newcastle and probably Forest are another one you can add (although it's easy to see that all come tumbling down at some point).

We are in the first footsteps of an era where we can grow our revenues to circa double what they have been, but that would still leave us some way short of the sky 6. The short to medium term aim will be to compete with Villa and Newcastle (to a degree) as "best of the rest". We will still have to sell players to progress, but nobody should be scared of that as long as we have our house in order.

I want to win it all and I think this club will be successful again one day. Our motto means “Nothing but the best is good enough”, and that should be our aim. Never accept anything less, and always let those who own us know, that is what we the fans expect.

Do most fans still expect that? I don't. We'll never win the league again - the rule makers have ensured that. Success for us means Europe and/or a cup win.

If that’s your attitude then so be it. I’ve been lucky to see it and I know this club is capable of getting back in amongst the best. There is something special about this club, something that goes beyond the norm. We will see I guess but I have expectations and I know many of my fellow blues do too!

I've seen us win titles too but that was a different world. How do you propose that we get back amongst the best given the financial rules and the massively disproportionate levels of income? Genuinely interested because I think it's a closed shop.

Once our first team is sorted, we should push on with our youth team development, expand our scouting throughout the UK and overseas, and invest in finding hidden gems. Other clubs do it so there’s no reason we can’t learn from them and do likewise. The academy should not just feed the first team but also become a revenue stream, producing players that can be sold smartly to reinvest. Alongside that, improving facilities (which we mostly already have done), hiring top coaching staff, and building stronger links with local clubs and schools will create a steady pipeline of talent. It would help us to grow sustainably, reduce dependency on expensive transfers, and build a competitive edge for the future.

Have any of the other clubs managed to break through the glass ceiling? Newcastle and Villa came closest and they have had to sell their best youngsters just to meet the financial rules which have led to the closed shop. They are struggling to hold on to the coat-tails of the top clubs. If anything, they are more likely to fall back than make the necessary jump to title challengers. Newcastle's best player is on strike because he wants to win things. He obviously doesn't believe that they can challenge.

Anyway, I really hope that you're right.

He’s not been a revelation, sorry, firm disagree there. He’s been good, solid. A dependable defensive full back that is a great option to cover a first choice option.

His limitations at RB are shown when he has to deliver crosses or overlap a run.

I love Jake, he cannot be our first choice RB.

Looks to me like he's a back up RB or back up CB. Could be decent in a back 3.

Have to disagree with pretty much everything you say there bar the metric tonne part.

Didn’t help himself either with his comments in/post the notts forest game last season.

Nothing against him per se, or you for that matter, just objectively he does all that stuff.

Not to knock his views in transfer related stuff, he’s entitled to them and makes for some interesting reading

"Didnt help himself"

Option A: Post that I didnt celebrate a goal from a player in a meaningless game and wanted him to leave so the team strategy would be more productive.

Option B: Another poster states they live next door to Harrison Armstrong and that Doucoure is class. Also that theyre a former RS footballer and constantly puts other posters down.

Yet you take umbrage to option A.

I don't get what you mean by "didnt help himself", should I veer more towards option B ?

Advice welcome.

Arsenal under Wenger, quick, one touch stuff, comes from the training ground tbh. Look I can appreciate what Moyes has done but I won't be forced into liking him.

I just want us to win. Dont really mind the football and if Moyes got us into Europe this season i'd probably lean towards him staying.

I think Arsenal had a solid base with George Graham and then Bruch Rioch i think added the likes of Bergkamp.

I wouldnt mind Moyes to deliver a solid base. Our issue last time and since then has been bringing in the opposite types of manager, leaving the players unsuited.

This summer would have been the one to go for an elite manager. Now I think we need to go for a Moyes, then next probably someone between a Moyes and an elite coach.

Before making the step towards a top manager.

I don’t know where you got defensive lynchpin from , certainly not from my post
Oh I know maybe you pulled it out of your ass like all the young kids you recommend we sign
Players don’t fall off a cliff once they reach 21
I said cover / starter for Kovacic but maybe once you realised he was old enough to shave you lost interest
When starting Kovacic would be far and away our best midfielder if we signed him , not that we will

Well, advocating spending a chunk of money on an injury prone player on a massive salary would equate to them being a defensive lynchpin.

Why else would anyone want to sign a player like that if he wasnt going to be one?

Kovacic used to be one of my favourite non-Everton players when he was in Italy. You can probably find that in my post history.

Another injury prone player now who would cost a lot of money in fees and massive wages.

You'd have him as cover :)

I would wager you probably love Seamus Coleman being handed a contract extension as well.

You seem obsessed with "young kids" and "ass". It's a few times now you've mentioned both.

Probably not the correct part of the forum for you?

Personally I'd say the likes of Pickford, Tarkowski, Garner, KDH and Dibling were names I've thrown out there who are almost all fixtures in the 11.

Not to mention Branthwaite who I supported when others said to sell him on. I've also rated Armstrong since watching him.

But no, none of these players you rate above Seamus "Seamie" Coleman.

You @devon_blue would probably get along well.

Lets stick with the injury prone or less technically gifted over 30s for PSR eh?

I do too, but I’m certainly not going to hope for anything less, for me it’s not an option. I think smaller clubs than ours have had pretty good success with player development and selling them on for large profits, and because we are a much bigger club I think it will propel us forward even more. Obviously, a lot rides on our current owners and them making the right decisions. It’s early days and it won’t happen fast. I make myself chuckle though when I look at myself though with how impatient I get, but it’s only really because I want the younger fans to experience success. I feel sorry for young Everton fans.

@Nymzee caught a fair bit of the Genoa game today as was bored - that Frendrup is an absolutely fantastic player. Would walk straight into our team as the best central mid.

Roma apparently spoke to Genoa about him last week - when inter were after Kone, that would be a good use of the multi club model - get the heads up on the situation and player wants etc.

I have mentioned Fredrup on here before. He is a really good player who seems to win every challenge

Was talking to my brother today and he asked is he fast - was a hard one to answer as he always seems to be positioned so he's not having to make up ground.

Reminded me very much of Gareth Barry in that regard at least. Sign of a very intelligent player and they tend to get better still with age.

For a rumoured 20-25m euros it'd be an absolute steal. And exactly the type of player who'd transform our midfield.

Frendrup and Lamine Camara are both in that similar price range.

Its whether we go for that type or a conductor deep lying playmaker. As long as theyre able to be a key cog and lead the team from the middle then i'm open to who we bring in.

I'd have gone for a deep playmaker & one of those 2 rather than KDH. I think its important to have a base.

Honestly I'd have him at us. He's not Carsley or Reid quality and he won't improve at his age but RB and then DM cover could hqve been temp solution as we transition from Gana being a starter in every match he is available for. We need better than Garner and Tim anyway.

Suppose he's happy over in France and wouldn't be good enough for us. in many people's opinion.

More likely we will get a loan spot filled for DM in the end.

Which player in France?

Thought you were referring to Frendrup at 24 over in Italy :o

Why do the good right backs have to be young ???

Name 3 that Everton could sign:

Not for a high fee, not on high wages and not injury prone.

Everton havent signed one of those for years.

They look they might be coming to the end of their cycle mate, players getting older, struggling with high wages and seem hamstrung trying to change things with budgets and limits. They seem to be trying to get a few Chelsea players - wouldn’t be surprised if Rodgers end up there. Emery is there a while to and believe he can be quite demanding. They have Europe to come to.

Watched the, today, the fell apart when Kamara went off - good player that lad but very injury prone, he’s clutch for them.

Villa have fallen into the trap.

Spending big money and big wages for short term gain.

They should have built with youth to have a smoother transition
