Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi folks. A busy weekend lies ahead - Chris and Sophie are coming tomorrow for the weekend so we are having a family trip out to Redcar. Beach and crazy golf in the morning fish and chip lunch and the races in the afternoon. We're all going, including Charlotte her partner, the baby and Charlotte's partner's 9yr old son who is currently staying with his Dad during the holidays.
On Sunday , me Mr F Chris and Sophie are going to a Harvest market at Raby Castle ( very beautiful location) . Charlotte is goingvout with her workmates for bottomless brunch so Frankie is having a sleepover.
I have a feeling that the bank of Mum and Dad will be empty by Monday!🤣 They are worth it though.
Have a good weekend everyone x
Sounds fab. I wouldn't bother making room for Everton v Brighton on Sunday afternoon, it could ruin your weekend!

Morning everyone,

Well despite my advice to Anj, I will be tuning in , perhaps because I'm a masochist or maybe I'm just desperate to see what BMD is like .

Before and after it's a big cricket weekend.

Started last night with a Hundred match between England Rest of the World.

Our South African captained the World XI scoring a century off 30 balls....only problem was that we ran out of pink balls ( at £25 a pop ) and that by the time England got to bat it was pitch black 😂. Oh well we sold a lot of beers.

First XI game today and Sunday it the Super 8s . Two proper cricketers and 6 non cricketers in each team. I'm pleased to say that I resisted the temptation to play and instead will run bar ( but only after 4pm - priorities and all that. )

£40 odd million for a young prospect seems a huge gamble, let's hope it pays off .

Well whatever you've got planned have a great weekend and @Armaghtoffee really hope that enjoy your latest visit.

As y'all know I'm originally from Plymouth and despite moving up here 43 years ago still retain an affection or perhaps it's an infection for my home town team although to be frank I wouldn't bother to watch them even if they were at Wigan ( I do watch an occasional match on TV and they are pants).

Anyway the point is I also visit their fans forum from time to time and recently they have requested that members change their user name to their own name. It's not compulsory but was an idea introduced to limit / reduce vitriolic and abusive comments from posters.

Very interesting idea. I changed mine because quite frankly I hardly ever post on there and I suspect that no one in Plymouth will have heard of me / remember me. About 50% of the members have agreed.

I wonder if the idea would ever catch on here?

Having practiced law in the city I would be very reluctant to give up my anonymity.

Toffeeweb uses posters own name and that reason alone is why I never used it. It’s all well and good debating with like minded people but you do encounter the odd nutter on here. Someone tried to meet me for a fight in Liverpool on here one night 😀

Of course you also have the added problem that nobody would be able to pronounce your name.

Well used to it dealing with you Brits 😀
Did you see that the Mary Wallopers had their set at Victorious Festival pulled after about 10 mins yesterday for displaying the Palestinian Flag and leading free Palestine chants. The organisers just switched the mikes off on them. Well the girls were meant to be playing the main stage tonight but they've just pulled out in solidarity with the Wallopers. I'm glad they have the conviction to stand by their morals, but there will be repercussions and backlash with this. There always is with this band whenever there's a hint of controversy. . It'll be very embarrassing for the organisers too as they have literally been the poster girls for the festival. Feel sorry for the fans too. Was seriously thinking of going myself had I been able to get accommodation at a decent price.

No I didn’t see that! These attempts to stamp out freedom of speech is shocking. Fair play to TLDP for doing the right thing.

The video I saw was 1.20 long. The band were into what was apparently their first song when a security guy cane on stage and was speaking to the bass player about the flag. He left the stage but returned seconds later ti remove the flag. At that stage the singer stopped singing the song to express outrage and started to chant free free Palestine, and it was at this stage the sound was cut. The band posted this video to counter the initial festival statement that said they weren't cut off because of the flag or showing support for Palestine, but for leading chants that were deemed offensive. They gave since posted an update backtracking and apologising for hiw they originally handled the situation.

It's interesting that the events company that run this festival along with Biardmasters and others, had recently been bought out by KKR Private Equities, the world's largest PE company with links to arms industries. Boardmasters recently made big news in Cornwall due to numerous acts dropping out after refusing to sign up to various restrictions which included showing support for Palestine.

Crikey! Do you think I should get a pseudonym? I don’t fancy getting involved in anything dodgy 😂

The cover up of the Genocide in Palestine is sickening. That those who dare speak are labelled as Anti-Semites is enraging. There is no difference in shooting people queuing for food than leading them into a gas chamber.
