Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Varela is probably the least sexy signing of the bunch. His ball winning got a lot better last year though.

Cisse is a DM yeah. Earlier in the summer the word was we wanted a 6 and an 8 but it sounds like we've given up on an 8 now sadly

KDH is the 8 mate.

Yeah you may well be right actually. Easy to get a bit mixed up in the reporting when that position could be described as either an 8 or a 10 in our system.

Id hoped we were looking to upgrade Garner is all. The ball-player in the middle of the park is so crucial to a team and he's just not good enough for it.

Gana is basically covering similar areas that KDH as an 8 would.

It was and still is an odd signing to spend £29mil all-in on competition for Gana - then play him as a 10.

A major error of the window.

Hopefully we get a very good 6 as the midfield doesnt look robust.

I'm pretty sure they want to bring a proper defensive mid in still, we did try for Rodriguez who went to Benfica earlier in the window

Do you mean Rios?

Right, Dibbling in, great stuff, now onto getting in a big destroyer in the middle.
It cant be underestimated how weakened this squad is with Gana as our only proper 6.
Is Gana expected to play every match?
Ideally Gana would be coming on in matches, not starting.
Surely they must have something lined up?

I mean, Gana isnt a 6 and it would be suicidal to use him as one.

Garner could play 6 though.

Gutted Leeds are getting Bakwa. The lad is a serious, serious talent. Delighted with Dibling, but I wish there was a way we could get this lad too. Will be like Diarra at Sunderland, one we don't want to end up at a club that is worse than us.
Leeds getting Bakwa could free up Harrison for us....
Every silver lining...
And he could slot in for the injured Grealish

Ah didn't see that. I defo take him like. Not even for sentimentality reasons but I think he'd fit tactically what we're trying to do atm. It looks like we're gonna have 2/3 very tricky attacking players behind the striker. So we could do with someone physical that can hold it. Beto can do it. But he's hit and miss. Richy as the 9 would really suit us.

I think Moyes wants another striker. Be interesting if any names come up on the last week
Oh i get that and there is certainly an argument for it but Id counter it by saying its 2025 and we really shouldn't still be trying too play hold up type football. Providing the Dibling thing goes through then there is him, Ndiaye, Grealish, with KDH and Garner/Gana behind them, we really should be doing away with the Pickford long balls and trying to construct some proper patterns of play.

That Sarr at Spurs is pretty good. We could sign him right now if we didn't keep dithering. Disgrace.

They finished 9th in his last season at West Ham, and they didn't fire him they just didn't give him a new contract.

But this idea that Moyes was bad at West Ham is just plain not true. They got ideas above their station and wanted a "better" style of play so decided to get rid. We know how that's gone for them since and I bet they would take him back in heartbeat with the trajectory of their team at the moment.

Saw a stat last night that shows he's got the best win ratio of any manager at West Ham in the prem era. Damning with faint praise I know, but still.

He was bad at Sunderland though, granted.
I chat to a lot of W.Ham fans and their opinion of him reflects many of us , ( including myself)
He is respected for doing a good job but after a while the limited nature of his tactics grinds down most of your enjoyment of the game.
There is also a perception ( shared with many of us ) that he does not have the ability to go higher than mid table.
As for the football , one thing W. Ham and Everton fans have in common is a love of exciting football played on the ground .
He never really delivers that.

Bring me boring midtable security and European runs for now

We do need another DM. Maybe the links to Dion Lopy might come good. He was being mentioned for about EUR25m but I cant believe he'd cost that from the Spanish second division. Either way we need another body there, as with upfront and RB.

Nah
Too much money nowadays to be bored watching his style football .
I expect some bang for my buck nowadays.
We are treated as customers more than supporters nowadays .
Tired of handing over large sums of money for a woefully sub standard product.
He has to finally evolve if he wants to survive here this time around. And that means evidence of improvement season to season.
He not going to be able to manage expectations and dial it in for a decade this time.
