I'd be slightly doubtful due to timing.

In my experience Everton (those who governs us) are liars and they have people out there who'll peddle this lies - or half truths if you want.

The safe thing for them to suggest via client journalists is that a deal is progressed to a point it will likely get done in order to see them past the opening PL day at the stadium with a good atmosphere.
