2025/26 David Moyes

I didn’t insult you - I said you were talking crap :D :pint2:

I just want a team that fights, is always trying to be competitive and which is trying to raise the levels.

Fact is modern football is purely down to money and we cannot compete as it’s such an uneven playing field. But you can gradually get better and challenge if you are patient, a much undervalued quality nowadays.
Oh, we can compete if the club is run properly. Palace won a cup last season. I want what you want - but I think we can win trophies when we are run properly. But I'm not convinced by these new owners right now...

Yeah - it’s like being in the top five percent in the U.S. and trying to compete with the vastly richer one percenters!
You can live a very good life as one of the top 5% in the US. We can be consistently top 8 and win the odd cup, make Europe most years if we are well run. That's not aiming too high for a club like ours if run well.

Yeah - and Roma have gone backward under the Freidkins.

Pre-Friedkin Roma were stronger league performers and Champions League regulars during their peak (2013–2018), but under the Friedkins, they’ve had more European knockout success, even if league performance has dipped.

But I’d much rather be in the Champions League semis than winning the Conference League.

Win the odd cup? It’s practically a closed shop!

Best chance of a cup is to get into the Conference League via league qualification.

About the Freidkins:

Fan Protests & Criticism
Curva Sud Boycotts & Banners
  • In October 2024, the ultras staged a symbolic boycott: the Curva Sud remained empty for the first 15 minutes of a league match against Inter. Banners read:
“15 minutes of absence because we are sickened by this management.”
“Friedkin: your absence is so evident that you sent a Frenchman to talk.”
  • In May 2025, fans placed banners around the city stating:
“We no longer want stars and stripes, USA go home.”
“Roma to Roma supporters, not market shareholders.”
Direct Confrontations & Angry Protests
  • During a humiliating 5‑1 defeat to Fiorentina, fans confronted players at Termini station. A banner declared:
“Club of clowns, team of flops, pack your bags… get the hell out!”
  • Other banners were even more explosive:
“Here we will rip your hearts out.”
“We aren’t in the American ghetto.”
These were hung in Rome neighborhoods like Corviale ahead of key matches.
Discontent Over Decisions & Treatment of Legends
  • Fans have taken issue with controversial decisions such as:
    • The dismissal of club legend Daniele De Rossi after just four games into the season.
    • Merchandising-inspired anger over releasing kits in Lazio-like sky-blue shades, and not reinstating the club’s classic crest.
Voices from Fans & Commentators
  • Zvonimir Boban, former AC Milan star, sharply criticized the Friedkins on Sky Sport:
“Who are you? Shame on you. This Americanization doesn’t respect (…) Roman football.”
He specifically faulted the treatment of Totti and De Rossi.
  • Claudio Ranieri, Roma coach, warned that:
    “Money is not everything,”
suggesting that the club lacks a guiding director and soul under current ownership.

That's a cup, though, isn't it?

Be consistently top half, be in Europe most years, be run so that money is available for visionary football management and a cup win eventually becomes likely.

We were the same sze as Arsenal when the PL started. We have two more leagues than United. This can be done if we have proper ownership. Anything else is defeatism and lack of ambition. Let's see what the Friedkins can do...

Yes. But we have to also be patient and allow things to take shape. I don’t think we’re that far apart!

It’s not though

We were linked with Fofana who made it clear he wants Europe and is a very good player

Let’s say we sign Fellows from West Brom

Should Fellows be upset he was second choice to a better player, or should he be absolutely buzzing Everton want to sign him and he gets to play in the premier league

These players aren’t getting picked up in sleazy bars late at night for a cheap bang, they’re being given multi year multi million pound contracts to play football in the premier league, it’s a nonsense comparison

Yup the comparison is nonsense I agree, as you went from Kate moss to Kathy burke mate.

Fellows is a championship standard player - widely known to be available for around 8-10m for a year, and not even other championship clubs went for him. Fofana is being thought over by the likes of the rs, Bayern etc.

However if you regard yourself as a great player are you gonna then sign onto a team that literally has a manager saying yeah he's ok.

Howe has been dragged through the mud for nearly a month.
Silva has today briefed the media re his frustration.
You provide extra scrutiny to Moyes because you are an Everton supporter.

It isn't supernatural.
And both those managers are likely not gonna be there next season I'd bet

Watched howes btw, held himself up exempelerary today in his presser, Silva melted when he was here under pressure

next season, next season? what about right now?

Moyes has been called every flavour of dirty rat in the past few days and suddenly long term target has been landed on a Friday night for what could go onto be a club record transfer fee.

No! No! No! That's enough, we've all had it, not good enough, p45 time and let's get martin jol.
