For me all this i want to play in Europe is a bit of a nonsense, there's only so many teams that are actually going to go far in the comps most are just also rans and you'll get max 3 or 4 games for the rest. Most players we've been after are not at the standard the top European teams are chasing so for the sake of a couple of european games players are ignoring decent moves. I know I'm probably biased but some players need a big dose of realism rather than the fantasy being pedalled by their agents.

The first sentence is right, but I think it's more just a convenient excuse for the club to use rather than a genuine issue with the players.

He's still not replacing Beto with someone younger and less proven than Barry if Barry is too young and unproven to start ahead of Beto though.

Possibly a narrative driven by the Agents, talking up the player ego on the potential 'showcasing of his ability' in these competitions but knowing it gives him another negotiation layer to add his commission fees to his fat fees at both ends of the deals.
