Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

oh really, so my enciso shout over a year ago was after i saw him score in a game was it?

20 mil and just joined chelsea, scored a banger against us

potential level through the roof

Well done on suggesting a player that had played in the PL for 2 seasons before that post.

Incredible scouting.

I think 'Europe' is just a lazy way of saying Champions League and, to a lesser extent, Europa. I think there's some merit to the argument that if two clubs on a similar level are after the same player then 'European' football may give one of them the edge, even if only because it could put them in a bigger shop-window for the future.
I think it is more than anything telling Moyes/Everton what they want to hear.

If a player have options between clubs and does his due diligence, ask around, see a few matches and try to figure out where and how they would fit into Everton, they won't ever be honest about why they opting for someone else. Because both player and agent could easily be doing business with Everton within short time.

The way we train, play and recruit seems different to what you'll see in most successful clubs. Offensive players will struggle to shine playing for a club that doesn't want the ball. If your national team wants to defend with a high line, it won't be good for you to sign for a very defensive team that trives in a low block. And while the results were decent second half of last season, it was a brutal watch for neutrals. Arguably the most boring team in the league.

Everton is a hard sell. A poor fit for most players. But players will never say they turn down an offer from Everton because of the style of play.

If we had, let's say Lee Carsley as manager, we would be much more likely to attract a Delap, a Hutchinson or a McAtee. 100%. That's not me saying we should hire Carsley and sign all the players he know from U21s. Different managers have different pull. And while being successful, Moyes hasn't earned the best reputation. A lot of good footballers have looked very poor while playing in a Moyes team.

He said exactly that… they are working down the list.

We’re just gonna end up with lower quality players.
The club went into the window trying to sign quality players from European clubs or players with both high potential + G/A now:
- Conceicao (ended up a Juve)
- Fofana (wants European football)
- Luis (wanted European football, went to Forrest)
- Delap (wanted European football, went to Chelsea)

We moved onto targets who are slightly higher risk - young, little bit of top flight experience but really high ceiling. Unfortunately we're getting out-priced on these players because of the player/club demands:
- Hutchinson (wanted European football, whopping £37.5m reset market for players of his ilk)
- Fatawa (Leicester priced him against Hutchinson)
- Dibling (ongoing, but SOU sticking to their valuation).

The logical step down from this level is players with a lower ceiling but higher floor, aka more experienced/'prem proven' players.

It's not for lack of trying, just look at how it's gone across the window. Yes, they will be 'lower quality' than the players who wanted Europe, but they won't be bad by any stretch if the imagination.

Also we cannot solve every problem in one window. Let's bring in some quality, some promising talent and rebuild the squad the best we can. Maybe then we'll have a decent cup run, string some good results together and have a more consistent season, and see how we are next season

They don't care for the surroundings just the bottom line of their bank account.
Today i'd say 90% of good players are cold ruthless self entitled mercenaries with agents to match.
Prime example is that biff Isak at the barcodes.
I agree with you fully but if its just money for all then they would be writing their own cheques in Saudi. Some want the best of everything.

Not sure any sane individual ever suspected otherwise.

Nice to daydream about a shiny mass of concrete and steel attracting world class players but its tbe adage of being able to polish a turd.

Turn the turd into an attractive project with prospects like Forest for example and the ground is a bit more of a pull. But only slightly. Sorry if the reality check hurts but is what it is !
There was loads of posters on here saying the stadium would attract a higher standard of player, it was weird.

Alright big time got loads of money have we?

Sitting here today, the new stadium doesn't hurt our ability to sign new players, I'd say.

But importantly, it's the flywheel effect it could create though the generation of the higher revenues which should strengthen our PSR position which should mean we can spend more on players and wages which should result in us finishing higher to the league... All v.obvious I know, but stepping back a bit, the stadium can and will have a positive impact on our ability to attract new players.
It doesn't hurt and, hopefully, the increased revenues will allow us to pay more in wages sustainably in the future but, as of today, it's an irrelevance in terms of signing players.
