2025/26 David Moyes

I won't bother watching the presser then. Usually do in the evening after work.

I can accept there are challenges, but I don't accept they are as insurmountable as he seems to be suggesting. There is a world of players out there. Some of them must be good enough. We're not Madrid.

It will inevitably result in him leaving sooner or later.

Its Moyes though isnt it?

He downplayed expectations at every turn when he was here, an has always done so. Man Utd pissed the league, he rocked up and was talking about it would be a good point if they could get one away at Newcastle. Before a ball was kicked that season at Sunderland, who'd been in the Prem for 10 years on the spin, he said it would be a miracle if he kept them up.

After years of pragmatism, I wanted a bit of hope, confidence and dare I say arrogance this summer, and he is the total opposite of that.

We had a real opportunity this summer to send a lightning bolt through the team, and we're pissing it away.

Completely agree!

I feel similar about it and the excitement about this season has slipped in to how it’s been in previous years

Ultimately we should have been going in with an Irraola or Glasner sat there in charge.

Instead we've done what we always seem to fall back on - nostalgia - presser today was depressing - all about Moyes being the right man to have that honour at BMD, why? Fur winning f all in 12 years, and whose legacy was downplaying what our ambition should be at every turn throughout his time here.

Throw in the Bill fluffing we saw as well for bringing the stadium in, yeah torpedoing Kings dock and trying to move us to out of the city was his main effort...

But it is what it is, Coleman there as a captain, Moyes as manager and the ghost of Bill still hanging round us.

That today - when he basically said we'll have to ask players' agents to look kindly on us in order to bring their clients here - was the nadir for Moyes at this club as far as Ilm concerned.

We're a team starting out with some of the best training facilities in the country who pays the wages big players want paid and they'll have the chance to be playing their football in one of the best stadiums in European/world football.

Only he could make all that sound like we're ten bob.

GTF Moyes - as soon as you possibly can.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't an admin on here as I pull some punches to try an be less of a miserable arse, but as a fan, it put a black mark against TFG for me.

They didn't want Moyes.

They had their man who was coming in the summer to replace Dyche.

They lost their nerve.

They allowed short term to dictate long term.

Time will tell whether that was the right decision - obviously, I hope they're right and I'm wrong.

If it was my club, Thelwell/Purdy would have been retained for a year or two, and Frank would be the manager now.

'Hey Bill, I really want that Riquelme lad, he'd be our midfield focus'.
'You can have Kevin Kilbane and like it!'
'You said you'd try for Sean Davis and I'm still waiting'
'Keep this up and it'll be Osman off to Prestatyn for some roast peanuts and half a pack of hob nobs'.
'I've kept my end of the deal up, safe every season and a few gems found n sold to keep the lights on'.
'There you are kiddo, you've come round to it in the end, same again tomorrow!?'.

Granted, Bill aint here no more, but consider how much trouble the club was in less than 12 months ago, with us going belly up to loan sharks to get the ground half finished. A motivated sale, and the playing side allowed to limp on and get through with a manager that'd lost the will to struggle onwards.

We act like things have altered massively, salad days, sunlit uplands, and potpourri on every horizontal surface going.

Our problem as a support base is with reality, we're still not a wealthy club, so watching others splash the cash is being taken personally.

6 ooc left about a month ago, Cal-lewin was signed for £1.5m, Holgate for £2m, Doucoure for £22m. We got nothing for them leaving. We got more for maupay to Marseille - a player we never should have bought.

We've had a shocker.

The money thrown down the drain, good after bad, bad after worse, we've dug this grave, and it's a long and slow climb out of it to get back up on our feet.

Pep, sAF, Kendall, Robson, Ramsey, they'd all struggle with these shackles.

Reality.
