Oh come on man don't be so facetious. We've been in negotiations with Southampton for three weeks for Dibling now with no resolution (this is for one of our main targets who actually wants to join us btw), which is an excessive amount of time to be haggling over a few million. Time is quickly running out and fans have every right to be concerned considering the current state of the squad.

It's not really that long at all. Every day people are writing in here what a disgrace we are based on scenarios they've completely fabricated. I just come on here to see if there's any transfer update and it'd people constantly moaning. It is quite exhausting. There's no point me getting divorced then having to come on here and be exposed to all this moaning again.

No I mentioned that myself, he actually is happy to come, but we aren't happy with what the package will cost to sign him. I personally would bite the bullet, we are pretty desperate for something on the right hand side of the field. He's very young and a brilliant prospect, so it's an expensive gamble. Stick or twist, I say twist.

As I've said a few times, that's just a completely different thing. The suggestion is that Fofana has been led to believe there are serious big hitters interested in him and so he's willing to wait for them. That's not a new thing or something that's in any way specific to Everton, there are levels to these things that we're all fully aware of, players would rather play for the top 6, the big Spanish clubs, Bayern, PSG etc than play for us. That's obvious. Fofana isn't waiting to go to Palace, Celta Vigo, Bologna etc because they're in Europe, that's the point.

I think 'Europe' is just a lazy way of saying Champions League and, to a lesser extent, Europa. I think there's some merit to the argument that if two clubs on a similar level are after the same player then 'European' football may give one of them the edge, even if only because it could put them in a bigger shop-window for the future.

Oh I completely agree some do moan more than others that's for sure. I think the transfer world we live in these days where the minutiae of every deal is reported on every single day so when there's no news for a few days/a week people get particularly anxious, rightly or wrongly.

….as I often say, it’s a bit of a pointless statement given the likes of Celtic and Rangers play Champions League every season.

I think the real definition is clubs who consistently get to the knock-out stages of major European competitions. These are the clubs players want to join.

It’s a big world. There’s talent out there. Maybe we should find and go for players who aren’t already competing in Europe so they don’t view the move as a step down. The only one on the list who wants to come is Dibling and that’s because we are a step up from where he is at the moment. Step up and pay raise and player is interested. Shocker.

I don't think i've ever heard the 'they all want to play in Europe' argument before this summer but people now just seem to to repeat it ad infinitum as if it's an obvious fact, it's quite weird.

It's easy - what you do is layout the kinda investment to the players the team is doing, unless they're retarded they will see if the clubs ambitions are there.

Can argue though that having in the year 2025 then having Moyes as the manager doesn't exactly scream out that this is a new ambitious Everton though, does it?

Those players are massive rolls of the dice. No matter how good your scouting is the majority will be flops.

You can also buy 4 for the price of 1 Dibling, and if your scouting isn't awful you just need an ok hit rate for it to pay off. Everything is a gamble, but we're clearly not in a position to take players from champions league clubs outside of England. So what's the alternative?
