Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

It’s a big world. There’s talent out there. Maybe we should find and go for players who aren’t already competing in Europe so they don’t view the move as a step down. The only one on the list who wants to come is Dibling and that’s because we are a step up from where he is at the moment. Step up and pay raise and player is interested. Shocker.
Those players are massive rolls of the dice. No matter how good your scouting is the majority will be flops.

I watched his conference, he did say he thought they were making progress and getting closer on signings tbf
I don't get the delay. Negotiations only take 5 mins. How much do you want? 40m? Ok, sold. Then straight into the first team Sunday.

So what if they don't want to join, want European football, prefer another club, want to negotiate terms.

Its a disgrace absolute disgrace.

Well if Brownhill's is a hurdle then what does that make Ake's a mountain ? Because surely Ake is on far more than Brownhill, I mean I'm not fussy on either if I'm honest.
I think it's more what we're willing to spend then what we have to spend, with the ake links if legit we would probably be more inclined we did agree to pay extensive wages for Jack grealish

Moyes literally just said that in the presser though?
Well there's a few things to say about that. Firstly, let's not pretend that we usually just uncritically swallow anything a manager says in a press conference and accept that it's an indisputable fact. Moyes obviously has a skin in this game, he's hardly going to say that he's not been able to convince players to come here is he, and so you have to take comments like that with a little pinch of salt. Secondly, there is clearly likely to be some truth to it. Someone replied with the example of Delap earlier. Yes, obviously if we're trying to sign a player that one of the big boys is trying to sign then we're going to find it hard. Playing for Chelsea and competing for titles and getting to the latter stages of the Champions League etc is more appealing than coming here, we all know that. Same with Fofana, it's easy to understand that he would rather move to Bayern and play in the CL than come here, that's nothing new. Do I believe that it's impossible for us to convince people to come here instead of Forest or Palace though, because they're in Europe and we're not? No, absolutely not.

If you honestly think the biggest differentiator between us and Chelsea is that they're going to be in Europe this season then I don't really know what to say. Players want to play in the Champions League for the biggest clubs, everybody knows that, but 'Europe'? It's maybe a slight consideration but I very much doubt it's a key point for the vast majority of players, and it's the job of the recruitment team to ensure that any player we speak to goes away with no doubt in their mind that playing half a dozen games in European backwaters for Forest or someone will be no substitute for what they can do if they come here, it's hardly asking a lot for them to sell the club to that extent.
Look at the fofana situation we supposedly have a deal agreed with Lyon but he's holding out for a Champions League club what's the strategy to persuade him in coming here?

Oh come on man don't be so facetious. We've been in negotiations with Southampton for three weeks for Dibling now with no resolution (this is for one of our main targets who actually wants to join us btw), which is an excessive amount of time to be haggling over a few million. Time is quickly running out and fans have every right to be concerned considering the current state of the squad.
