2025/26 David Moyes

We will have to do that.

There’s a storm brewing at the club, I can just sense it, similar to when we had full revolt against Benitez and then Brighton at home.

Now add in, £7 pints, paying through your nose for the privilege of a season ticket.

Then little things like this..

Things are bad but I really don't think there will be any revolt. Everton fans put up with the previous regime for years, so they won't be revolting after 6 months.

That said, you are right that eventually there will be problems if the quality on the product on the field does not improve. You can't significantly increase prices for fans and oversee a decline on the field. That clearly won't work.

That's Moyes, Tim. He has the final say, so has been reported.
Haven't seen this reported

I also find it incredibly difficult to imagine it is Moyes who is negotiating, agreeing deals, and drawing up contracts. That is not his remit as first team manager.

The problem has been concluding deals, not identifying players. I'm not sure how that is the manager's fault.

He certainly is

Compared with the massive fraud Kenwright, and his goodison will fail a safety certificate, years with zero signings - I think we’ll be ok

I'm only going by the report above where the writer threw Barry under the bus for no reason, so I guess take it for what you think it's worth.

He has the final say on transfers so in effect he's the leader of the committee.

No, I don't think he's negotiating or drawing up contracts, that's absurd.

But saying his only job is to identify players and sit back and wait for them to fall into his lap isn't real either.

Other than identifying players and trying to persuade them to join Everton, what other part of the process would the manager be involved in?

We've got ourselves into a long protracted negotiation for Dibling, that has been played out in public. I really think that shows the problems we have with the committee. I don't see what credentials Kinnear and Hammond have to be leading recruitment at Everton. For me, they are just the wrong appointments, and so far, the summer has been a complete mess.

He just admitted himself that this has been a problem.

I don't think it's 100% on him, but to imply that he has nothing to do with what has happened this summer isn't true either.

It's not just persuading players. The financials obviously need to be right as well. If you want top players then you need to pay top end wages, and none of us know what has been offered.

I won't bother watching the presser then. Usually do in the evening after work.

I can accept there are challenges, but I don't accept they are as insurmountable as he seems to be suggesting. There is a world of players out there. Some of them must be good enough. We're not Madrid.

It will inevitably result in him leaving sooner or later.

He sighted European footy (lack thereof) as a big reason why many of the 'top' players/their agents turned down our approaches in this window. He also said that there's money there to spend.

I do applaud the club for at least trying though. If 'Europe' is literally the top answer for most of these players then what can they realistically do to convince them otherwise without spunking £150k+ pw wages up the wall left right & centre?

Fairly sure we'll be seeing a ramp up in activity to at least get 2 or 3 more signings done, even if they aren't necessarily the kind of players who'll drive us into the European spots this year..

I'd suggest the biggest problem, which the manager has basically said, is identifying the wrong players - players who don't want to come here.

"We are going to have to sign players who can do a job"....ugh, very telling remark off Moyes, especially as we still have no right winger or right back or defensive mid we were all talking about bringing in. I'll get pelters but we are getting close now until the end of the window and that sounds to me like an admission of failure from Moyes in that presser. The players they wanted didn't want to come for one reason or another, but I know one does and that's Dibling, bite the bullet and get him, pay a bit more than we originally wanted to, but we need a quality right winger, there's one who is happy to come, if we haven't left it too late with Palace and Spurs now apparently interested. Do the rest with loans if need be.
