Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don’t really get the obsession with whether a striker is raw or not. Goals are the only attribute that’s worth anything. Erling Haaland’s hold up play is relatively shocking for the level of striker he is.

I remember Moyes doing this before talking up the virtues of Saha and his hold up play outside the box, meanwhile the team wasn’t scoring and Saha never looked remotely like troubling the 6 yard box. Calvert Lewin was the same, constantly getting all this praise for doing everything but barely scoring.

Yet when we get a striker like Niasse or Beto who comes in and scores a glut of goals people seems overly bothered that their hold up play isn’t great.

I couldn’t really care less as long as the striker is scoring. No better way to get Barry up to speed than to play him. He’ll score goals, he has done everywhere he’s been.
Basically nothing new...so either nothing is happening or we are keeping information to ourselves

I’m starting to get reflective about this…

Everton have NEVER done quick business, I don’t know why I expected any different.

Also, we haven’t started well in the Prem for years (especially under Moyes)…

Basically… I’m very much in the “Don’t panic” camp

The fume in here over Barry is hilarious, fellas read one sentence and automatically proceed to think he's the worst striker in the world, actually making me laugh as I type this. 🤣
I'm not fuming, it just does have an air of history repeating itself yet again for Everton. I'm quite happy to follow Barry's journey and get behind him or at least have a laugh in the end if it's the same old story. Ha e you noticed how many players that we have 'nearly' signed in the past that have gone on to be quality?...and the ones we often seem to end up with don't even polish up to be diamantes

Christ alive!

Now reading that we need another striker because Barry has been deemed raw from his training and not ready for the prem.

Who the hell is scouting and signing these players?
I thought you were familiar with our delegation

Completely different type of players though you can see he has potential, Sandro was never a type of striker that could lead the line himself
That’s fair, I was just saying that 11 goals in La Liga doesn’t ensure success. He looks to have potential, but whether he develops or not is hardly a guarantee. The fact he was raw should have been apparent to anyone who watched him for a half. If he was brought in to lead the line on day one someone did a poor job
