Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don’t really get the obsession with whether a striker is raw or not. Goals are the only attribute that’s worth anything. Erling Haaland’s hold up play is relatively shocking for the level of striker he is.

I remember Moyes doing this before talking up the virtues of Saha and his hold up play outside the box, meanwhile the team wasn’t scoring and Saha never looked remotely like troubling the 6 yard box. Calvert Lewin was the same, constantly getting all this praise for doing everything but barely scoring.

Yet when we get a striker like Niasse or Beto who comes in and scores a glut of goals people seems overly bothered that their hold up play isn’t great.

I couldn’t really care less as long as the striker is scoring. No better way to get Barry up to speed than to play him. He’ll score goals, he has done everywhere he’s been.
I agree to an extent, but there is more to a striker than goals....Calvert lewin being a good example: he had everything g but the goals really. We loved Niasse because he was all he had and he tried but you can't tell me he wasn't terrible. I agree, we've signed this guy, at some point we're going to have to see what he can do but let's be honest it doesn't sound good does it? It's not just like he just needs a little polish. We shall see I guess. Did you watch his goals last season? They're goals but they're hardly finished that shout, yeah this guy will be good in the prem

There's nothing wrong with Barry. It's hardly an exclusive that he's a work in progress. He's 22, didn't come through the big academies and is new to the toughest league in the world, and was willing to sign for Everton. Of course he's raw.

Why are we so eager to write players off before they've even played any games for us? Why don't we just try supporting the players we have instead? Some people just love to set themselves up for disappointment just so they can say I told you so. Crap fans that need lashing into the Mersey.

In spite of it all, if you’d told me after Leeds that we’d get to Friday without any news at at all, not a sniff of a rumour of an advanced talks or anything, I wouldn’t have believed you. Quite incredible how this has all played out.
Same here mate, you’d think the club would see the murmurings of discontent from the fanbase/media and try and push a deal through to stop the noise somewhat.

I thought he looked like a player who would put his head and foot in where needed to score all manner of goals even the scruffy ones. Get him in the box and get some crosses and pull backs in and we can then debate the merits of how raw he looks. Bringing him on for 15 minutes at the end of a game and just launching the ball at his head for a flick on won’t show us anything about him.

Combination of no transfers and Moyes deciding on our system and lineup for last Monday’s game via a ouijaboard has (rightly so) destroyed everyone’s head

It started when Branthwaite's injury news came out. This place almost had a collective positive feeling about it after the Grealish loan was finalized, it has spiraled since.

One tweet, without an actual quote, and now he's Oumar Niasse. Get a grip people.

Niasse was 26 when he joined Everton, if you compare his career to anyone it would be Beto.
Yes you're right. The early signs aren't that we've signed a potential striker who might be a poor man's isak with a little bit of patience 🤣...we shall see

Yeah he did look a bit like that from the clips. And yeah, I agree
