Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Seems that they are now left just hoping either saints lower their demands to what we offered previously or Fofana changes his mind - not sure either is a wise strategy at this point....

As we seem to be waiting on those two - and if we only have enough for one major 40-45m deal, it then means all other positions are on pause waiting till the other gets sorted. Likely looking at last day loan deals.

Could very easily sort out several positions in a day or two if we provided additional funds and realised having a squad not fit for purpose is far worse than overpaying by 5-10m across several transfers.

Could easily get a player like Dibling in if we just accepted the clause which only has relevance if he succeeds anyways, 20m would get you Frendrup from Genoa who'd instantly give balance and improve the quality of the central midfield.

Ultimately we needed the owners to make available around 200m for investment this window, with the caveat that done correctly we could likely bring back in over 50m.

We spent roughly 80 so far, the two above would raise that to around 145, say throw in a Fofana - who if he saw the club strengthen and spending may change his mind and a pickup of a fullback for 10-15, loan in a striker, sell Beto, sell McNeil sell Patto, bring in Bove as a punt he can fully rediscover his form and fitness.

You'd outlay around 200, bringing back in around 50...

But nah we will mull over bids or look at players, or discuss making a bid and end up complaining it was too difficult a market whilst the other teams go and get deals sorted
If it was pre PSR I’d expect them to drop what we needed to rebuild the squad. Nowadays you have to expect them to spend every last penny within our limit.

As I said I love football but find Everton heartbreaking and also love them at the same time i want to reject them but can't. It feels weird but freeing to express my feelings for a club that's so important through generations of my family going back over 100 years, when me and my dad didn't see eye to eye what connected us was Everton. I apologize for letting my emotions out about our team surface ( especially at my age) but I just want to be proud of them again.
I think you’ve summed it up actually, you put up with things from the people/things you love more than you would anything else.

I’m not sure it’s Everton that I love it’s the years of going the game with my dad, it’s shared passion with family and friends that I can’t leave behind. I’ve often thought that when my dad passes would I put myself through it, if my daughter doesn’t start coming with me (she’s 4) then I wouldn’t do it alone. I think a lot of us feel like that, it’s so frustrating all the false dawns. It’s defo the hope that kills you, death by a thousand cuts and all that.

Came here to say the same thing, it’s Pickford’s contract extension. They’re announcing it now in the hope people will forget about the transfer situation. They’ve defo been sitting on that news waiting for the right time.
wouldn't surprise me if you are right. I posted some time ago i was surprised nothing has been done regarding players who have only 1y contract or like Pickford where we want to extend. These days it is all about social media / timing of announcements

As long as we didn't throw insane wages on loads of players, PSR shouldn't be any issue though anymore. Selling the women's team, increase in commercial revenue and a dramatic cut in repayments on loans, debts, and playing costs have almost reset us.

We have the potential to avoid psr issues by a sale to the women's team of Goodison in the future also.

200m Invested say this season would roughly hit us with a 40m psr hit for each of the next 5 years give or take. Which over a three year period falls within the minute on acceptable losses if you balance out other costs to income - 25m sales per season ensures would ensure a rolling ability to invest upwards of 125m per season ongoing.

It's napkin math but what you are spending on transfer fees is pretty easy to have sustainability on investment on - what killed us and others is when you start offering CL wages as a rule of thumb to everyone you bring in. As it creates a huge added cost over season which you can only rely on increases in commercial revenue say by qualifying regularly for Europe on counter balancing.

Likes of Dibling, Fofana, Frendrup etc would not be coming in on 125-140k wages so it's a sustainable investment.

But, the owners have to sanction that from their own pocket short term which I'm unsure if the desire to do so is there - they did at Roma partially
