Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Everton football club plc have no impact, say, effect, cast so much as a shadow on moves from other clubs, being, for instance, wirtz £115m, ekitike £70m, sesko £67m, diaz £66m, mbeumo £65m, gyokeres £55m, etc. You see, a certain set of clubs have been able to throw money around like confetti, and bully for them, unfortunately we are not allowed into that little group and have to operate in a more fiscally fiduciary manner.
But there's another problem, clubs with assets on the books want top dollar, and they're prepared to dig their heels in, either overpay and we can all have a night out on the excess, or struggle on with nothing.

All the crying about it in between isn't really going to help a great deal. There's laughs ahoy about the isak and newcastle situation, but then some wanting dibling to do similar and drop the dirty on southampton for the betterment of Everton. Some of the support isn't living in the real world.

But but but NSNO though lad!

We set a record last season, the direct free kick Young scored in the league registered as the FK scored by the oldest player ever to score such a goal in PL history. We dropped 11 players this summer. Staying in the league got Dyche paid more for his efforts. It's all money, it's all waste, we are playing catch up and have been kicked in the teeth twice with points deductions. It's taken decades to ruin the club, it's not recoverable in one summer. It took a prolonged spending effort by the big oil boyos at city to get them their place at the top table.

Time for a bit of reality.

So in a nutshell you’re agreeing that we have botched the window and will be aiming to stay up again this season?

To be fair, a number of people were saying it seemed unwise to fire Thelwell right before the window starts and then bring in new people with no time.

He was not fired though, his contract ran out. While that may seem like semantics, given that his contract expired he would need a new one (that he would need to agree to). 3 years? 4 years? Who knows. But I think it's a bit too simple to just say he should have been retained.

We pay Everton Football Club employees to find solutions to our problems not to give them an excuse card when they get out of bed.

No, I am not agreeing, the standard of expectation due to deals done in the market this summer has worsened our position for bringing players in.

The window isn't closed yet.

There'll be a load of business done on the final day. By every side in the league.

We'll be midtable.

We've settling into the new stadium to get to grips with.

It's classic Everton that our only senior LB got injured 8 days before the first game of the season. 'kin magical!

Mad that it hasn’t worsened the position of absolutely anybody else.

Excuse cards at the ready!
